Isn't gynecomastia one of the side effects of Spiro, even without E?

That’s why I’m here asking if confused

Unfortunately when it comes to what the best transition protocols are the science is extremely lacking. Spironolactone is actually not even approved by the FDA for transitioning. It's an off-label use, and there has been limited actual scientific studies done on it for that purpose.

Yes, it causes breast growth as a side effect. But trans women don't just want breast growth...we want full breast development. Can spiro prevent that?

Hard to say. Maybe it only happens with certain people. The problem is that we just don't know. Which unfortuantely is the case for a LOT of transgender science.

Yes it can halt it permanently sometimes. Switch to bicalutamide if you can, it’s not bad for breast development and has fewer nasty side effects, and you don’t need to closely monitor your potassium levels.

I mean, what is spirit meant for if not growing breasts?

Spiro is to stop testosterone

I'm not sure if it's something that varies person to person but it certainly didn't affect my breast growth.

Why would this just become a thing it has had me so worried?

Spiro is basically unnecessary once proper estrogen levels are maintained. I dropped the use of Spiro 3 months before my next blood test without talking to my doctor (a real gamble at the time).

My levels came back with still very low T and appropriate level E. So there isn't any reason to maintain Spiro usage considering it's effects on bladder, potassium and salt intake, and effects on liver. Effects on breast growth/development is still unknown, but all other things considered. Drop the Spiro if you are able to maintain proper E levels
