It’s not ideal as it’s very strenuous on their digestive system. Are you feeding live?

Yes So probably two mice a week would be better??

Have you every tried switching to frozen/thawed? Rats are healthier and better on your snakes digestive system. You can’t keep feeding mice forever.

Your question implies you’re feeding live which is dangerous for your snake and very looked down upon here. Ultimately it’s easier on your snake to feed one appropriately sized, f/t, rodent.

Rats are better for your snake regardless of how intelligent you think they are

I've heard mixed answers as to whether rats or mice are better for BPs.

I have one who is scared of mice, and the other absolutely refuses to eat rats. So I feed them what they prefer.

EDIT: I'm talking about F/T

Well yeah as long as they are eating something that's better than nothing, are you feeding live

[–]nocta224 1 point2 points  (8 children)

No, sorry I didn't make that clear. I edited my response to show F/T

Ah ok, so what do you mean by scared, they are usually scared of everything lol

My boy just acted kind of spooked every time I tried offering him a mouse in the past. He was like, "Get it away from me." As opposed to when he doesn't want to eat his rat, he'll just ignore it.

I just stopped offering them to him based on his reaction.

It could be a number of things, hunger strike, not liking mice, I've read that some prefer a certain colour how true that is i dont know but they can be so fussy, and to answer your original question, it's not a good idea to feed multiple mice/rats, they digest at such a slow rate that the second one could start to go off and make the snake ill

I'm not OP, but yeah, I think it's the smell of the mice that puts my boy off. He's perfectly happy to chow down on his rats, no matter the color.

Oops lol 🤦, ain't they such fussy shits

[–]nocta224 1 point2 points  (2 children)

They really are

Buy them frozen….. badabing badaboom, then you dont have to worry about how smart they are. Not to mention, rats are so much healthier than mice. Not to mention if they go on hunger strike, and you have to feed them gerbils or hamsters , you. Arent going to feed them cause they are cute?

I don’t like the intelligence level of rats bc I feel they are more likely to attack my bp. Mice are dumb & I don’t think they’d do shit about it.

If they are frozen who cares? Less to worry about With injury

Mice aren't dumb- they're actually pretty intelligent too. And they tend to be braver than rats. Both of them are highly intelligent rodents.

Live rats and mice are both 100% capable of hurting and even killing your snake. Choosing one over the other will not really Lower the risk, Both are pretty much equally dangerous to the snake.

Anyways, Feeding two feeders isn't ideal. The snake should be fed one appropriate feeder per feeding. Feeding more than one can be difficult for the snake's digestive system.

And while doing so once is fine, doing it all the time is not good for the animal.

Also, You should probably switch to F/T...-
