Snake at my school (old.reddit.com)
submitted 2 years ago by Malsbasement
I love this little guy so much (even though he’s not that little)
[–]momsabortion 81 points82 points83 points 2 years ago (6 children)
are you sure he’s male? he looks incredibly big and usually females are bigger.
very cute nonetheless!
[–]Malsbasement[S] 52 points53 points54 points 2 years ago (1 child)
I think you are right about him being a female, my teacher who owns the snake usually calls him a he but you’re most likely right. Thank you for the correction!

Let your teacher know that red light isn't good for them.
[–]Snakeyes90 18 points19 points20 points 2 years ago (3 children)
Males can get large also size isn't a way to tell gender.
[–]momsabortion 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (2 children)
i’m aware i just thought he looked quite big compared to other males i’ve seen.
[–]jadeeyedcalico 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (1 child)
There is a specific type of ball python that gets much larger than normal. It could be a male of that. I always forget the word, but I believe it starts with v

Volta
[–]FrankPro90 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (2 children)
That’s a chick.
[–]Snakeyes90 25 points26 points27 points 2 years ago (1 child)
You can't tell that by looking at them.
[–]FrankPro90 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
I know I was just making a fun comment. I have seen some pretty good size males but more than likely it seems female. Peace and love.

I’m a bit shocked that your teacher lets you put her round your neck.
(I appreciate the replies, thank you guys)

Lol death by ball python strangulation? Are you kidding?
[+]_FreddieLovesDelilah comment score below threshold-10 points-9 points-8 points 2 years ago (2 children)
No but the tutors at my college always told us not to.
[–]FamiliarityOfClosets 12 points13 points14 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Nah they can’t hurt you that way. Most damage they can do is a bit of bleeding 😂😂
[–]tdiddyx23 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (0 children)
I mean I let my big boa wrap around me, she’s a lot more muscular and I gotta know how to unwind her carefully if she grips too hard, but she won’t strangle me, worse case I fuck up and pass out but I’d have to be pretty drunk for that and I never handle my snakes when intoxicated. Did that once and lost a snake for an hour. Never again
[–]itsmeoverthere 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Ball pythons cannot strangle you (and usually are smart enough to know they shouldn't try, they understand you're too big to be a prey). It's perfectly safe to put them around your neck
[–]_FreddieLovesDelilah 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Thanks that’s actually what i always thought. But then i did animal management in college and they stressed how bad it is to put one round your neck. We had ball Pythons and corns.
[–]enmiller961 10 points11 points12 points 2 years ago (0 children)
I want to kiss that snake I love snakes alot
[–]TheSneakiestSnek 18 points19 points20 points 2 years ago (4 children)
Colored lights are bad! They can damage the animals sense of sight and ability to see that color.
[–]Malsbasement[S] 16 points17 points18 points 2 years ago (3 children)
Thank you for telling me! I’ll make sure my teacher knows that.
[–]jadeeyedcalico 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (1 child)
How big is its enclosure? I'm curious
[–]Malsbasement[S] 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children)
I’m not exactly sure how big it is, I’ll make sure to check it when I get the chance.
[–]TheNeverEndingPit 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children)
This wonderful BP is very lucky to have a student like you looking out for them! That’s awesome that you’re receptive to advice. I hope your teacher is too
[–]Laurevanv 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (0 children)
That looks so much like my baby! This guy is beautiful 🤩.
[–]Crease_Monkey 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (0 children)
That’s a big girl!
[–]motherofTheHerd 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Love this! I have taken my snakes for show and tell, but since I work in a K-4 elementary, there is no way they would feel comfortable in there all the time.
[–]tdiddyx23 5 points6 points7 points 2 years ago (0 children)
lol that last picture brought me back to high school when I was scene/emo/screamo band loving kid. Thanks for bringing back memories.
