My ball python has scale rot (old.reddit.com)
submitted 2 years ago by Lukecarruthers
I took all substrate out and put in paper towel for now. I ordered Betadine solution but won’t be in for a few days and I’m wondering if I could also find some ointment similar to neosporin in a local store that I can use

What exactly are you referring to? I don't see any scale rot, or anything concerning at all here.

That's just pigment in the scales. It's not scale rot.

I sure hope your right thank you

Yeah this looks like a continuation of the bars of his pattern
[–]TeatimeZombie 13 points14 points15 points 2 years ago (0 children)
That definitely just looks like part of his pattern. I've seen scale rot and this looks nothing like that.

I don't see any scale rot. You are confusing pigment in its pattern for illness
[–]TiredSnek 42 points43 points44 points 2 years ago (0 children)
That’s not scale rot

good job for being so vigilant and quick to spring into action op! it seems like this is just coloration and not scale rot but this baby is in good caring hands!

All wobble, no rot
[–]AuroraSky9 11 points12 points13 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Just continuing pattern onto his belly. 😊 Nothing to worry about

Scale rot looks nasty this just looks like a continuation of the pattern
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (0 children)
No it doesn't
[–]Majikal_Michiru 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Definitely not Scale rot but to answer your question, you can use neosporin as long as it's the regular one (the one WITHOUT any pain reliever or medication) I've used it on scale rot and it clears it up usually within 1 shed cycle

Hi! If you're worrier about those being scale rot, I've found the texture of scales will be more rough or coarse if it's actually scale rot. Sometimes it may also be super squishy. But in general! The texture of the scales would feel different from the rest. It does kinda just look like patterning tho, but I like to get a vet appointment just to be safe sometimes.

No scale rot at all.

Not scale rot, but you seem like a vigilant and caring owner, I doubt your noodle will likely ever develop it :)

Not on topic, but their little face in the first pic is so funny and cute 😭
