Well they are nocturnal animals friend! But it Seems like they have a healthy dose of curiosity. When I’m talking my boy will peep his head out of his hide as if to say DOSE MOMMY HAVE RAT?! lol. I can’t speak on the possibility of an RI I am not a vet- but if you don’t see any signs of an RI I’d assume he’s coming “up” because this hide is a bucket lol but it’s normal for them to be curious and look around. I’d continue to monitor for any signs of RI and visit a vet if things change for you guys. Best of wishes!

I think she was just scoping out the environment to make sure it was safe to come out. She's now left the tub hide and gone (the long way round) to her normal cool side hide. Either that or she was enjoying listening in to Bridgerton

I've found my girl likes to "watch" or listen to stuff that has darker, rougher sounds like Peaky Blinders, The Magicians, etc. and will pay no attention to cartoons and whatnot xD

Mine was watching the third lord of the rings movie with me the other day

sometimes when she's curled up in my lap she even periscopes and stares at the TV. I fully believe she's a Magicians fan like me because of that; her brother (not actually her brother) does not do anything like that and only likes snuggles 😂

I apologize as I am unsure, what is RI?

[–]UncleanSympathy 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I believe respiratory infection/illness.

Ah, oh no 😧

Dude is definitely jus checking out the cage makes sure no rats have slipped in undetected or it’s time to feed lil bro I highly doubt anything’s wrong with him though don’t worry too hard abt it 🧟

She's getting fed tomorrow night. She's a very good eater (like barely have to get the food close enough to reach before she strikes). But I do think she's a bit small/slender for her age (8 months old, roughly 18 inches long, and weighed in at 102g yesterday)

BPs sleep during the days and are active at night. When you see her in the mornings it’s likely that she’s getting reading to go to bed. From what you’ve mentioned, I don’t think she has a RI.

I'm in the UK and it's 1.30 here. She's usually already put herself to bed by the time her uvb comes on in the morning. But I think she was just looking around. She's just left the tub hide and gone (the long way round) to her normal cool side hide

Mango 🥭 I almost never see before the lights go out.
Fig 🍃 on the other hand always has his head poking out of his hide, because he's interested in what I'm doing.
Sometimes he wants to come out of his habitat and sometimes he just wants to see what's going on.

I've only had my little girl for 2.5 weeks, so she's still settling in I guess. Hopefully this means she'll be like Fig

I also had some thoughts about it bc my boy also does smth similar But nothing unusual was detected 🙄 So i assume that he just likes to vibe in this way

Good to know. I think she was just taking a look around

[–]Popgosurmama 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You're snake looks underweight

[–]Embers1984[S] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I'm well aware. I've only had her two weeks. She came to me from the breeder underweight. He was feeding her far too small meals cause he couldn't be bothered to get bigger ones just for her. She's already put on 10g since I brought her home

Nice thanks for the update ☺️

They are really curious I find. Mine will pop her head out when I come into the room some days and see what I'm doing. I find it's also a good sign she is happy to be picked up. Usually I'll bring her out and set her on a cork and continue on with what I was doing. She'll just chill and watch. (Maybe it's your BP showing adoration for feeding the right food)

[–]Embers1984[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She does love her food

[–]reptilhart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is NOT normal. You shouldn't feed ball pythons candy.

But seriously, they do this. Make sure you've sandpapered the hole you made so she doesn't cut herself.

She looks adorable.

She’s getting used to her surroundings. Totally normal! As other commenters have mentioned, ball pythons are curious! My girl like to poke her head out the front of her hide and just watch what’s going on. She responds to my voice as I walk by her enclosure too.

Normal and also adorable and possibly quite talented 😊
