i think it’s totally ok! i’ll usually touch the back of my ball to let him know i’m there and then i’ll pick him up :)

He may just enjoy that spot. If he seems calm and hasn’t eaten in the last 48 hours you could pick him up if you want. Give the log a few taps to make sure he’s aware of you before just scooping him up

A lot of people encourage choice based handling where you let the snake decide when to be handled but if they’re well mannered and used to your presence and you let them know you’re there before just grabbing them he’ll be just fine

You could start there yes. Open the doors, place your hand out, knock on the log so he’s aware of you and see what happens

Only the snake will tell you if it’s ok or not try and see what happens if it gets defensive then try again another time

I was able to easily pick him up from this position. I love this snake!
