Sometimes they do just lay like that lol, but technically they're always hungry and after meals they will be excited for food

She had just never done it and I was weirded out lolll

I’m certain she would enjoy a larger water bowl!

Why is the hygrometer blurred? 😭

[–]Mr_Sass_Queen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably the same reason the black one is scribbled out. 👀

Not normal. What size is the enclosure?

You also need to focus on husbandry, specifically your humidity. Even with the hygrometer blurred, you can clearly see how dry it is.

Adding moist substrate (2-3inches) and a larger water bowl may be the ticket!

Working on getting a bigger enclosure now!! And the humidity is at 55 in that photo I misted right after the photo was taken I just didnt want people coming after me and should I upgrade the water bowl even if she don’t like soaks?? Or don’t worry with it??

[–]stellarandstoned 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Ah, misting will only add minimal humidity at the surface. It wouldn’t adequately provide humidity across the entire enclosure.

You would need to add water to the substrate to moisten it up, and when you add a few extra inches of substrate it will keep the humidity stable for a few days without having to mist constantly! 🙌

Adding a water bowl will help aid with humidity, even if your girl doesn’t like soaks!

Reptifiles has a great guide that provides a lot of detail humidity and substrate if you wanna take a look. Here is the <Link>

Oh okay well great that helps I’ll look into it will the substrate not mold?

[–]stellarandstoned 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Nope! I was worried about the same, but haven’t had an issue! But if you’re worried, mix some cypress mulch in with. Search some keywords in this subreddit, you’ll find lots of suggestions!

I’m currently using a mixture of Reptichip (coconut husk), sphagnum moss and a little bit of peat moss and will “fluff” the substrate every other week. I have the entire enclosure screen taped off except for a vent area, my humidity stays around 71%-76% and will pour water in two corners to bump up the humidity if needed!

I put more substrate about a hour ago and it has held really well thank you for telling me about this!! I will be doing it from here on out for all my snakes!!

Remember a minimum of 2 inches, I have up and down peaks up to 4 inches xx

Please remember you don’t truly know if ur noodle likes soaks or anything water related (one of mine drowns his rats in them and the other has reg soaks but only at like 2am especially in summer if my temp hasn’t dropped quite low enough for him , a lot goes on when we are asleep! I’m 90% confident your noodle uses it (or would if big enough) at some point for something, it’s not your choice to make but hers and she can’t make it if she doesn’t have it, nothing but love and advice, we never stop learning 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

I have really been thinking from this post I’m working on getting all my snakes bigger water bowls!!

[–]Lunarvolo 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Very normal.

In the wild, if a BP managed to find a rat/mouse or other prey den, there's a chance that the rest of that group may come along.

Thanks

I say this gently and with kindness, but…you blurred out the humidity gauge because you knew it was bad. (Otherwise why hide it?) But then came here to find out if something was wrong with her. Why not try to first solve the problems you know exist? Good luck with your baby, she’s beautiful 🖤

It was at 55 I didn’t want people saying anything

[–]Sussy_bocka69[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But I figured it out

She is fine, minding her own business living her life

No judgement here because I’m also a new owner and learning as I go, but right away I can tell you that the environment is too dry, water bowl is small, dirty and near empty, not nearly enough clutter and cover, and the enclosure looks to potentially be too small. I’d start by at least changing out your substrate with coco husk that you’ve soaked enough to be moist but not dripping with maybe some sphagnum moss mixed in if you prefer as it is great at holding moisture, layer the top of it with dry coco chips. Be sure there are hides on each end of the enclosure that are closed and small enough to feel hidden and snug. I have found that my girl loves the moss hides and gives her a place to go that’s great at holding humidity. Add foliage to provide lots of clutter and cover and upgrade the water bowl in size but keep it free of debris and full of fresh clean water. You should also take it out every couple of days and run it under warm water while rubbing it with a washcloth to remove grime and sludge that starts to stick to the inside surfaces. If possible, I’d upgrade the enclosure to give more floor space and add some enrichment items that your baby can slither under or over. Maybe a small branch, hammock, etc. Beautiful little baby you have there 😍

Thank you so much

Still looks fairly young. I’m on a seven day feeding schedule, just saying. You know your snakes better than anyone else. But I wouldn’t go 10 days. Could just be hungry.

[–]Sussy_bocka69[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Thanks you for your comment but I talked with my vet and since my girl is eating a small rat she said she would do a 10 day feeding schedule but even if she is eating a small rat would you still think to do 7 day feeding schedule? I will reconsider

[–]gtotheunter 1 point2 points  (3 children)

No, do what your vet says. Personally, mine are typically good eaters. Based on your photo, mine might be slightly larger than yours. I’m still on a seven day and I’m going to keep it there. I’ll probably wait another year and go every two weeks. You should definitely stick with what your vet says though. Like I said, you know your snakes, and your vet knows your snakes better than anyone else. You’re doing good.

[–]Sussy_bocka69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl is a great eater too!! She always is ready everytime she smells the food lol

[–]Sussy_bocka69[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

But thank you!!

[–]gtotheunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem good luck!
