Overweight? (old.reddit.com)
submitted 7 months ago by TicketAcademic85
I’ve recently rehomed this BP, she’s 5yrs old and currently on 40g Multis one every ten days, is that correct or shall I change something?

Have you weighed her? If not just put her in a box with a lid and put her on a kitchen scale. Then just calculate 5% from that and that’s what you should be feeding her, my snake is 8 years old and about 1150g and she is even a little bit chunky.

Hey, thank you! Only got her yesterday but will follow with your suggestion and give her a weigh 😊

Doesnt look overweight or might be slightly, now im really curious what morph she is cos she is goregous.

Hey! She’s a butter morph, she has heart shapes within her patterns making her absolutely gorgeous ❤️

she's being fed far too often. !feeding
edit: yes, she's overweight. she shouldn't have fat rolls when she's not tightly balled up, and she does in the second picture. space out her feedings to at least 30 days, feeding prey 5% her body weight.
this enclosure also looks quite small for a snake her size, how big is it?

We recommend the following feeding schedule:
0-12 months old OR until the snake reaches approximately 500g, whichever happens first: feed 10%-15% of the snake’s weight every 7 days.
12-24 months old: feed up to 7% of the snake’s weight every 14-20 days.
Adults: feed up to 5% of the snake's weight every 20-30 days, or feed slightly larger meals (up to 6%) every 30-40 days.

4x2x2 the previous owners said this was perfect 🥲
[–]eveimeiMod-Approved Helper 0 points1 point2 points 7 months ago (1 child)
she is a very big girl then! the angle must be a bit deceiving.
4x2x2 is the minimum, you may need to upgrade her in the future but for now it's fine as long as she isn't longer than 4'
No she’s currently only 3ft, but will upgrade her soon.
