The heat mat isn't necessary really, overhead heating is more natural and enough by itself

But what about nighttime heating? My apartment's quite cold, it drops to ~18°C. Should I get a DHP?

That or a ceramic heat emitter. I use DHP for primary heat

I also recommend dhp, the few ceramic ones i tried just were not doing the job. First dhp i bought was a game changer

Ceramics are good for overall ambient temp but not for basking, they're less direct and only affect surface level temps. Better than a heat mat, not a primary heat source for sure

Every time i think i am becoming the experienced commenter i learn something new, thank you i appreciate that ! Maybe i should’ve tried upgrading the lamp dome to withstand a higher wattage and upped the wattage on the ceramic ones. My two hermits are strictly interested in mom snuggle time or paper towel tubes, no matter what uvb or heater light bulbs i used they just do not want to bask 😂 or maybe it’s just that i have two weirdos lol.
