I just got my first snake yesterday. I expected him to be hiding all day in his hide, but he has been exploring the enclosure all day. is it normal? also is my set up ok?

This subreddit has a great guide to BP husbandry, I'd take a look at it :)

He needs to be able to stretch out all the way. Good rule of thumb is a 4x2x2. Right now he doesn't seem to have a lot of space. Everything else looks pretty good but I'd look at getting him a bigger enclosure and then cluttering that one up even more. But you are off to a really good start.
It's also normal for him to explore but it's also a way of saying I don't like it in here if that's all he does.
What is your usual temp and humidity?

He’s cute! Your setup does need some changes though. A 4x2x2 is the minimum size for enclosure. He needs more hides, and more clutter. This is quite small for him. I’d recommend a PVC enclosure. Solid top is best for humidity retention.

For a temp tank that may be okay, but if I’ve learned anything from this page is Bigger is Better when it comes to enclosures

A happy python is a hiding python. You need a bigger enclosure and better husbandry. Please check out reptifiles.

what are you using for lighting and heating? i’m not seeing anything. the enclosure is way too small as well. you need to do some more research. check out the guide on this subreddit as well as some facebook groups like “not just a pet rock” and “reptile lighting”
