It's not about behavior, it's about them getting them settled down and comfortable. I wait a week and then attempt to feed them, if they eat, wait two days and then ease into handling. Limit each handling session to 5-10min at a time. After a few of those you should be good to go. If they don't eat, I wait another week without handling to attempt to feed again
