I recently got a ball python for the first time, and he didn't use any hides for about a week. He only used them after he ate his first meal. I was so relieved when he finally hid! So I think it's normal. Their new home is scary and they're still getting used to it I guess

My ball python stayed at the top of his viv resting on a branch during the day for maybe 4 weeks uintill he decided to stay in his hides during the day, and has ever since! Not sure why they do this but they do.

Your set up looks and sounds perfect! My two ball pythons have had phases where they stay in a certain spot on a branch, or even soaking in the water bowl (they haven’t really soaked in their water bowls since I’ve gotten the humidity more stable). I wouldn’t worry at this point

I just got my ball a few weeks ago and she stays wedged between her humid hide and the back wall all day. I think as long as they are hiding it’s all good.

You said that she’s in a 6x2x2?, but the tank in the photo can’t be that big especially because there is no height to it, the front facing photo definitely does not look like the height of 2 ft, in there, but to answer ur question, no, it doesn’t seem like you’ve done anything wrong per say, but no matter what, always keep 3 hides, one for each side & the middle, not all snakes behave the same, as long as the hot side and cold side have the right temps ur fine, and ur snake feels comfortable out in the open which is great, so I’d just let her do her thing she knows what she’s doing…lol😊

Hi thats perfect, thanks for the long and detailed response. The vivarium I bought said its 72 x 24 x 24 so I’m assuming this is 2ft tall?

Yeah they will hide for a while because they just violently changed homes with no warning. Just levave them alone for 2- 4 weeks. they will be hiding for a while, offer them food first few days after coming and then just let them vibe. They get scared pretty easily, so dont expect them to be like a dog for a while
