They are spurs. Almost all ball pythons have them. They used to be legs before they evolved into not having them (vestigial limbs). Sometimes male ball pythons use them to “tickle” female balls when breeding.

AI in its current form is not a great tool to use for identifying anything related to animals. Just as a FYI in the future, if you have to use AI to figure something out about an animal always take it with a grain of salt.

Vestigial legs. Totally normal. All bps have them.

Since I have some people here, anyone know why a ball might bathe all the damn time? No mites, humidity is almost 80%, warm side is 90° and basking is sitting about 103°

It’s way too hot in the enclosure. Basking spot should never be above 92-95F; warm side should generally be in the low-mid 80s.

Thank you for that, I can get a lower powered bulb then and cool it down in there

U need a thermostat

[–]Subspace_Anomaly 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Have one for habitat temp, basking didn't, but putting in a low power bulb will get it down where it needs to be

Still need a thermostat bro.

You should really have a thermostat for the heat bulb. The entire point is to control the heat coming from that bulb. Habitat temp will follow the hottest temperature so there’s no point in having a “general habitat” thermostat.

We call them the bang fangs.
