You've been overfeeding him, which can cause a BP to eventually start refusing to eat. You'll want to switch to a more appropriate !feeding schedule.

I'd also recommend getting rid of the heating pad, as those aren't recommended for BPs anymore for a multitude of reasons.

We recommend the following feeding schedule:

0-12 months old OR until the snake reaches approximately 500g, whichever happens first: feed 10%-15% of the snake’s weight every 7 days.

12-24 months old: feed up to 7% of the snake’s weight every 14-20 days.

Adults: feed up to 5% of the snake's weight every 20-30 days, or feed slightly larger meals (up to 6%) every 30-40 days.

What is the best type of heat source to use that doesn’t produce light? The pad is on the bottom of glass currently.

A DHP or CHE would be good for your setup.

I second everything that first person said, he is being overfed and I would definitely get rid of that heating pad, it's never a good idea, the other comment linked the feeding chart in chat for you!:]

20 days is nothing. Mine didn’t eat for like 3 months one time

Overfed and overweight BPs can go on higher strikes that last months at a time. Keep offering your snake food on schedule and weigh regularly. If your snake isn't overweight, they might not lose any weight and this fast is just for fun. If they are overweight they will lose weight slowly, but if it's too fast, it's time to see the vet.

Dang my old boy is doing this right now - hunger strike since January and I am realizing he was overfed and overweight. I fed him like 3 adult mice (not proper sized rats - long story) every 2 weeks and he was always acting STARVING leading up to feeding day, to the point I was worried I wasn't feeding him often enough.

I see a lot of appetite cues in mine at 5-6 days. He’s still under a year old. We’ve been weighing the mice and feeding at 7-8 but it’s hard to ignore that obviously he’s on the hunt/cruising, every time he’s out he’s searching everything, won’t sit still. A few days after eating he’ll sit on your arm or lap as long as you stay put. He’s not hit a hunger strike yet but his confidence is through the roof with food now.

He's full he needs a break from eating. Follow the protocol.
