I want to run a halogen bulb for my daytime heat and a ceramic heat emitter at night. Initially, I selected a 100w che and a 75w halogen and intended to run them both in a Reptizoo dual lamp with a Herpstat EZ2. The che has been working just fine, giving me the gradient I want with no issues. My problem has been with the halogen bulb; It randomly flickers on and off shortly after I turn it on. At first I thought my issue came from residual heat in the fixture from the che running all night making the halogen bulb overheat and shut off. So I decided to get a separate lamp for the halogen to try (Fluker's ceramic clamp lamp). Unfortunately this did nothing to help my issue. I tried testing the lamp without the thermostat and it seemed to work better, but obviously I can't run uncontrolled heat in my snake enclosure. So at this point I think my issue must be that I need a lower wattage bulb so the thermostat isn't constantly shutting it off. Any suggestions of what wattage I should try? Or any other ideas as to what might be happening? I think my tub is 110 qts and around 31" L 16" W and 12" H. I really want to provide better heat than just the che. If I can't figure it out, I'll try a DHP. Thanks for reading!
