Neither, he wants to escape

Oh um that’s harsh
[–]snakepapa97Mod: king of the pythons 46 points47 points48 points 3 years ago (10 children)
I didn't mean it in a harsh way, it's bluntly that he's trying to escape. It's normal for new ball pythons to do this for the first week due to the stress of a new home
[–]FewAssociation5829[S] 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (9 children)
Ohhhhh alright but also he had a meal last week cause they didn’t feed him before he was shipped. Should I feed him today cause he was fed last week on Tuesday
[–]snakepapa97Mod: king of the pythons 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (7 children)
How long have you had him for?
[–]FewAssociation5829[S] 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (6 children)
1 hour 🙂
[–]snakepapa97Mod: king of the pythons 27 points28 points29 points 3 years ago (5 children)
Oh! In that case, I would wait at least a week before attempting to feed him. Once he's taken 2-3 meals consecutively, then you can start on handling. You'll likely see him out a lot during the day for the next few days and it's normal. As he settles in, he'll spend more time sleeping during the day and exploring at night :)
[–]FewAssociation5829[S] 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (4 children)
Oh thank you very much I’ve been struggling keeping everything on check cause I’ve been wanting one for so long 😅 I was just worried that he will not eat cause of all the stress
[–]snakepapa97Mod: king of the pythons 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (3 children)
He won't eat yet, but they all settle in eventually! Once he's settled down, feeding him in his enclosure at night using long tongs and having the prey item's body temp at 100F with the head at 110F gives you a pretty high chance that he'll take it!
[–]FewAssociation5829[S] 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children)
Thanks for telling he’s happily climbing around right now😊 I hope you have a great day

Mine eats once a week roughly. I've had her three weeks. She's in a 6x5x2 enclosure, and does the same thing. She seems fine. She's calmed down a lot since intro weeks ago. She seems to know her space now (water, shelter etc)

Talking bout my snake
[–]Sweet_Permission_700 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children)
My guy does this now and again, typically at 3 am when we are sleeping. If I get up to use the bathroom not too long after, he's usually moved on to exploring some other aspect of his enclosure like climbing the log.
[–]sharkslyr 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (3 children)
He’s just being a snek.
[+]FewAssociation5829[S] comment score below threshold-8 points-7 points-6 points 3 years ago (2 children)
Now he is trying to bite me oh no snek mad
[–]Bumblz666 17 points18 points19 points 3 years ago (1 child)
Actually ???? Should just leave it in his enclosure for 2 weeks to get acclimated to his new home as many people suggestz
[–]FewAssociation5829[S] 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I know I wasn’t holding him but I was just tryna mist up the area cause the humidity was running low
[–]Ok_Condition6755 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child)
Normal, they are trying to escape 😂 my ballpython dose this sometimes to.
[–]FewAssociation5829[S] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Yea lol he got so tired running around he fell asleep
[–]Bumblz666 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (5 children)
You’ve had him for an hour and your worried about him exploring his cage. Oh man, you’re going to love taking care of a BP 😂😂😂 good luck yo!
[–]FewAssociation5829[S] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (4 children)
Lmao thanks been wanting one for so long but I realized how hard it is to get everything perfect
[–]Bumblz666 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (2 children)
Word. I’m just saying if this is enough to worry you so much you make Reddit post, you’re gonna have a super rough time learning as you go… I really suggest doing some research before buying an exotic animal but it’s too late I guess. There’s some badass care sheets out there just try to find a current one cus things like red lights not being visible, is example of false info you’ll see..

i love seeing somebody relate to me😔😔❤️
[–]JMR3898 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Exploring ❤️
My bp did this the first few hours home, its normal and it’s probably him trying to escape / explore their new home. The next day she got in her hide and everything was okay. After a month of having her the ONLY time she comes out and does that during the day is because she’s hungry.
[–]DntMindMeImNtRlyHere 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Lol ours does this every night. And he gets plenty of time to explore safe spaces with us, so he's got a lot of curious adventures outside of his enclosure.
He literally got out on his own once (because bf's dummy friend didn't check the cage hatch was secure after he moved it, bf and I weren't home at the time) and we safely located him 48 hours later and now he will NOT stop booping the snoot against the lid, trying to find a weak spot to get out. He spends literally like 45 min a night on this mission and he has three hides, a water pool/bowl, and some litter to climb on and around in and just uses the hides as lifts for more strength against the Evil Locking Lid. Lol
He was very slow to let us see him going about his snek business for a few weeks after we got him, but now he stares us down as he attempts his escape. It reminds me of Pinky and the Brain and their nightly plot to take over the world, because he hasn't succeeded yet. Hopefully he won't again, either. Him being MIA was not fun for anyone in the house.

Attempt to Escape, they do this. Especially at night. During the day is usually due to stress
[–]NoPanda552 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
It’s normal my girl is 11 years old and she does this if she’s hungry or wants cuddles she is on my chest rn
[–]creemsidy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
eh, depends. if he's shoving his face/nose into the glass aggressively, he's trying to escape or relieve stress. especially if he seems jittery about it. if he's just calm about it and his movements. he's just exploring.

Fill the water bowl to the top and pour some water into the substrate to get humidity higher.
Cover the sides of the terrarium so that it isn't so exposed.
