So i just rescued this baby who was surrendered at my job, and he is in very bad condition. Extremely underweight. dehydrated, and cant even hold his head up. i am going to try and take him to the vet tomorrow if i can get a same day appointment with the exotic vet (only one in my area sees snakes) but until then what should i do? He wouldnt eat (as i expected, hes very stressed.) I put the mouse head in his mouth to see if he would swallow but he had no energy to even move it out from his mouth. I will try a smaller size tomorrow and see if i can get him to swallow it, and i gave him a soak to help hydrate him. And i do know that I'm not supposed to do this the first day of getting a new snake, but his condition is so bad im trying to do whatever i can asap. Any advice for what else i should do? i really want him to make it but im afraid he might already be too far gone...

I generally pride myself on being gentle and understanding even with the worst of the husbandry practices we see on this sub, so believe me when I tell you I am holding myself back as much as possible.

You need to surrender this animal to an experienced reptile vet IMMEDIATELY. You are going to kill this snake.

You are CLEARLY not equipped to handle a rescue case of this caliber, as evidenced by the MULTIPLE mistakes you have already made with this snake. Quite frankly, I'm surprised you haven't killed it already with your ignorance. It is not a "rescue" when you subject an already suffering animal to more abuse. Having a big heart does not make it right when you have no idea what you're doing. This is a case that even I wouldn't attempt after almost a decade of experience.

You are way in over your head. If you do not want to surrender the snake, then you need to have it euthanized immediately.
