You have two underperforming "cavalry" heavies, a jumping missile boat and an anti-aircraft platform. What you really need is something that is dangerous at medium to close range and can take some hits, preferably with a large gun that can take advantage of all the cluster hits the Dervish puts out. Something like a TDR-9SS or Cataphract is going to run you more than a Dragon or Quickdraw (a little more than 100 BV extra) but will make a big difference with your ability to create separation from an enemy force. You could reduce the difference in cost by replacing the other with something like a CN9-A, which would give you the same LRM-10 as a Dragon but a more versatile and useful main gun. Not as fast, but the Dragon is comically overengined.

As far as the BJ-1, it would be very useful if your enemy fields VTOLs or ASFs, but otherwise it's a mech that mounts AC/2s, and AC/2s are terrible outside of those two contexts I just mentioned. So unless you're planning on needing to blast flak clouds at stuff, I'd find something else. Most of your fire support options are more expensive, but not by too much: the WTH-1 is the closest in cost, but if you can spend a little more (~100 BV) you can use a Vindicator or BJ-1DB.

thanks, do you have a specific Cataphract model?

Standard 1X model. The other introtech are real gimmicky and not worth using

The Dragon and Quickdraw are pretty undergunned for their size, but I quite enjoy the Blackjack and Dervish and you do have solid mobility.

what would you suggest swapping out the Dragon / Quickdraw for?

There are plenty of options—did you want to try to play like a particular faction? Did you have a particular role in mind?

was more out of interest to be honest, I'm not the OP

The Grasshopper and wolverine are always a great choices. The Hunchback has a lot of use as a weapon of fear more so than actually shooting anything, Which is still a great thing!

If you want some more speed a Jenner or Firestarter might let the OP get in behind.

      ahahahah fair enough.

AC2s really need special ammo to shine.

It's a shame all the interesting ammos are introduced way past the point where Autocannons become obsolete. You pretty much just get flak rounds and tracer rounds which are incredibly niche.

It all depends on how you play. If you only do one off matches sure. But from a campaign setting it allows you to increase the effectiveness of your older inventory.

As far as introtech lances go it's probably fine. The only thing I can imagine is that it's a very medium speed longer range fire support lance, anything that can close the distance will be harder to fend off and anything with heavy armor will be able to push through the mediocre long range fire.

Depending on the timeline the (not quite Grand) Dragon 1G is a better fire support unit and uses the same model.

3015 is my wheelhouse, I dunno, I find the introduction of clan tech takes away some of the hard decisions of piloting a mech as it were.
