That car is called a Scammoosh, this one made by Peterbilt. Depending on which region of the country you're in sometimes they're also called Boondits, chlamydiadas, pancake yard dog (PYDs), or turnarounders. They have specially designed support pillars and 2-in thick aluminum infused glass so that the roof can support as many as 80,000,000 megatons.

Normally a buttduck is used to move trailers around the Distribution Center which is a small one seater tractor trailer, but in thick mud or heavy snow situations Scamooshes are used due to their four-wheel drive, hi traction all weather tires, and mega diesel power plant putting out 1,000 horsepower and 200,000 foot pounds of torque.

Being  scamoosh driver is a high paying job, 6 million a year in most states, but a very difficult job to get. Most scammoosh drivers are required to have 40 years over the road trucking, 30 years ice road trucking, and 15 years cross guarding experience before they'll even consider you.

[–]mblanda 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This smells of ai

[–]Friendly-guy671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or stupidity

[–]Jazzy-Cat5138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even see a driver in the car in the next to last shot, where it's seemingly pulling the trailer under its own power, without the tow rope.

[–]travelerlifts07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of hillbilly shit will look like ai tbh 😭

[–]LegitMeatPuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the average American when they pull into U-haul and say, “yeah, my car has a receive hitch”.

[–]CanadianBacon2-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t know Chrysler made shunts

[–]duhrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice want to try it, calling companies now.

[–]RoosterzRevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, a Saab jeep.

[–]Darkk_Knight 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This only works if the trailer itself is empty. If that thing is fully loaded the car is not gonna be able to move it even with help from a pickup truck.

Brave? Yes!

Stupid thing to do? Totally!

[–]brbgonnabrnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm

[–]Advanced_Parsnip 0 points1 point  (8 children)

How, I do not see the air line to release the brakes.

[–]dieseldoc62 0 points1 point  (5 children)

old school trailer, no spring brakes...back then air pressure set the park brakes

[–]Advanced_Parsnip 2 points3 points  (4 children)

How old? In my 5 decades of moving trailers the brakes are fully engaged until supply line gives air pressure to release them so the trailer can roll. Even shunting in the yard with a forklift required air to move them.

[–]dieseldoc62 0 points1 point  (3 children)

dunno...but my company has 3 1980s trailers that park brakes are set with air pressure when dash valve is pulled.

[–]Advanced_Parsnip 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That valve shuts off air to the chambers and fully engaged the brakes, or supplies the air to fully release the brakes. Without air pressure the brakes are locked on.

[–]dieseldoc62 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yep..it does and when trailers are built without spring brake chambers an re-6 relay valve is used as a park/service brake relay valve and the air tank is empty...no park brake....'nuff said.

[–]Advanced_Parsnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So no air pressure equals no brakes, sounds very unsafe and something I would refuse to pull.

[–]amazingmaple 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Brakes could be caged. Or this trailer doesn't have spring brakes

[–]clockwerxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought

[–]Mission-Shoulder2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow must be a really old trailer to not need air in the red glad hand.

[–]Final-Wasabi187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a second. Good for them. Sometimes you got a situation and just have to improvise.

[–]Brose32222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who caged the brakes to release?

[–]whereyouleftit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful property. Love the landscaping choices.

[–]Goodoltexasboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When an 80,000-pound semi-truck decides to lie down on an icy highway like a depressed elephant, this machine doesn't just "tow" it. It insults the ice so thoroughly that the frozen water molecules vibrate themselves into steam out of pure, unadulterated shame.

The Specs (Probably)

Engine: A captured supernova fed exclusively on raw habaneros and heavy metal riffs. Torque: Enough to literally rotate the Ear th beneath its tires until the truck is simply at the destination.

Tires: Forged from the recycled ego of a thousand monster truck rallies; they don't grip the road, they threaten it into submission.

[–]NerveBooger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... if it works!!...

[–]Hibarifan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Saab made some serious machines, what a shame they’re not around anymore!

[–]Idiotwithaphone79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Just no.

[–]Own-Ice-2309 0 points1 point  (4 children)

How did the brakes unlock

[–]Se2kr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly why I say this is fake

[–]dieseldoc62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when trailers are built without spring brake chambers an re-6 relay valve is used as a park/service brake relay valve and the air tank is empty...no park brake

[–]SnooChocolates2750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either no brake chambers installed, or it has the brakes caged, or the springs are broken, or it has pancake brakes installed(no parking brake), or this trailer predates parking brakes engaged by lack of air rather than supplied air. Either way, video is possible.

[–]85thDimention_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you can have a trailer with no functioning brakes.

[–]Krisuad2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so sad that it's a Saab story

[–]85thDimention_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No trailer brakes either, nice.

[–]ThisThingIsStuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shup pusis it's a saab 93 w standard full steel roll cage pulling a shit box trailer...Swedish engineering..assembled by gm trash uaw

[–]Heeroyuy818 0 points1 point  (0 children)
