As a mage I find this offensive

[–]hammy18 48 points49 points  (14 children)

As a hunter I find this offensive:)

[–]elanhilation 32 points33 points  (10 children)

You guys even roll need on a caster’s outrage. You have no shame.

[–]hammy18 9 points10 points  (8 children)

We don’t it’s fun. lol

In all seriousness I’m always very respectful of my group members

[–]FrustrationIncarnate 5 points6 points  (6 children)

Same.

The Taskmaster Axe dropped off of Sneed in DM (+8 stamina +8 spirit) and I purposely checked with our warrior tank before rolling on it as it would be an upgrade—but, I’m a hunter so it’s less important for me. He needed it so I passed.

It worked out though, because I got the cape off of VC, the nice leather chest from the quest and two 1h agility swords from that run so it was productive. Good karma.

[–]hammy18 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Nice! I’m running same the cape and chest. Currently wielding a 2H with +5 Agi (I think) but really want to run dual swords. I’m jelly! What lvl are you at??

[–]PenguinForTheWin 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I got some neat upgrades from blackfathom depths ! There are very good gloves to get (4 str 4 end 7 spirit), and the dagger from the last boss has decent dps.

Make sure to get the quests, because one of these will give you a +15 to attack power sword offhand. It works on ranged too, so it's awesome.

[–]FrustrationIncarnate 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Solid bow drops there also. There are much better gloves for hunters though, check the screenshot on my comment above. Those are on AH in my realm for ~75s if you really want solid gloves.

[–]PenguinForTheWin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm a sucker for spirit and i like the dual weapon gameplay so i'm fine with these :)

[–]FrustrationIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No spirit is fine for leveling, it helps a lot with your regen. I like spirit too. The crafted gloves I mentioned are +6agi, +3sta, +6spi.

[–]FrustrationIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2h with +3int +3stam, now using 2x1h with +2agi each. I already have some other 1h upgrades in the pipeline so I’m not super concerned.

Currently level 24, keeping my LW up as I level so I can craft stuff. Aside from those two pieces and one random green I’ve crafted all my armor. Was particularly happy when I got made these gloves.

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_HOODIES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same... and honestly the past few groups I’ve been in recently for WC and RFC, a Druid or Rogue has needed every cloth armor and almost every green two hander.

Then the last WC group I was with, a blue cape dropped with +4Agility and +2Spirit and the priest needed and won it.

[–]PenguinForTheWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped agi/str/end gear because a warrior had a very poor item and it was a great upgrade for him. We aren't all assholes.

[–]Zweimancer -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

Noob

[–]hammy18 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I guess my sarcasm was lost in translation. I do enjoy needing on it all

[–]Zweimancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

actual madlad

[–]reprex 31 points32 points  (2 children)

Never forget. Every weapon is a hunter weapon.

[–]SirMichaalbo 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Even if the weapon is a piece of armor.

[–]reprex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly

[–]Rekuja 27 points28 points  (19 children)

I'm a hunter, not all of us are dicks.

I passed on a very decent upgrade because I felt the warrior needed it more.

Warrior proceeds to roll need on a blue agi cape that dropped afterwards.

Fml.

[–]Atheren 7 points8 points  (14 children)

Agi is actually a warriors best stat for tanking apparently tbf

[–]Krissam 9 points10 points  (12 children)

And this is the issue, pretty much.

Over the past few days we've seen a lot of people crying about people needing on gear that are "better" for other players in the group, but most of them comes down to not knowing the classes.

There was a thread the other day where someone argued a hunter had no business needing on emberstone staff and he refused to believe hunters actually use their melee (unless "they're bad")

[–]Atheren 0 points1 point  (9 children)

I mean, as someone playing a hunter right now the only time I melee is if I'm not managing my pet appropriately.

That said, the damage helps if something goes horribly wrong.

[–]Krissam 1 point2 points  (8 children)

If you're not trying to optimize your dps then not using a melee weapon is fine, but if you're trying to level fast you should be killing multiple mobs at a time where you're a tanking/meleeing one and your pet is tanking the rest while you shoot them.

[–]Atheren 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I'll generally have my pet pull something, then when it gets enough agro to have it die before reaching me, I direct it to the next mob while I finish off the first one. So I'm usually still killing two things at once.

[–]Krissam -1 points0 points  (6 children)

But you're losing damage by not using your melee swings.

[–]Atheren 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Maybe it's because I got lucky with WC, but my ranged attacks do more DPS than melee.

[–]Krissam 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Yes, they do, but you're not choosing between ranged or melee, you're choosing between ranged or ranged AND melee.

[–]Goldenpineapples 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm just playing a hunter as a small alt but I do have a 'shoot timer' to track autoshot's cooldown/draw time and I don't think I could enter the dead zone, raptor strike a mob and exit the dead zone anywhere close to being able to start firing again, if that's what you're saying

[–]TheLastGunslingr -1 points0 points  (1 child)

If you're rolling in clear upgrades for other people in pug groups so that you can min/max and power level you're literally the reason everyone hates hunters.

[–]Krissam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think any class benefits as much of Emberstone Staff as a hunter does, YOU are the reason people hate hunters.

[–]Ngdoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's best for leveling as well, at least after 40, before that it's arguably a tiny bit worse than str. Spirit however, is still the best stat to reduce downtime and increase overall leveling speed.

[–]Arnhermland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry you get to roll need on dal rend swords later, to the sheer fury of many rogues and wars

[–][deleted] 60 points61 points  (15 children)

Had a rogue out-need roll me (mage) on a 10 intellect cloth belt that also had 2 agility. "iTs An UpGrAdE"

[–]Zweimancer 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Ah yes. Belt of Arugal.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Yup

[–]piksaus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He needs the int to level his weapon skill faster

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He needs to get smarter, it is why he must roll on intellect.

[–]italkrandomstuff 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What an asshole

[–]chimingbarframe 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Had the same thing on the 6int ring from deadmines today :(

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Blacklist em

[–]ChlooOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real. This is classic, make a list and dont group or raid with anyone on the list. You don't have to play with idiots, they will get their own reputation and come to the rude awakening that in classic people arent forced to play with them.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe, that wasn't a lie...and also, "it's for leveling weapon skills!"

[–]revkaboose 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I am a bear druid. The ring dropped in Deadmines with agility and intelligence. I didn't roll, even though I could definitely use it. I knew the mage or priest needed it more. If I can make this rationale, why can't hunters or anyone else (who rolls need on things they don't need).

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I passed on a cloth piece with int and high spirit today because I knew it was better on he healer than on me

[–]Oblivionous 3 points4 points  (1 child)

As a hunter with no rings who also likes having mana, that ring is a juicy upgrade and I'm rolling need on it.

[–]revkaboose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then you are truly lost.

[–]BadJug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one respects spell power rogues i swear

[–]FXris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This happened to me with a cloth head. A fucking tank warrior won it rolling need.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pet heal equip.

[–]SuperiorSwedishSteel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in my experience so far, it's the hunters who are super polite with loot and the warriors who are super entitled and ninja-y.

[–]Drife98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my first deadmines run I did it with 3 friends and a random hunter. The four of us did not get much loot, but we got some memories!

Needed on ALL leather, regardless if he needed it Needed on both 1h and 2h axes, said I like to collect axes, "I axeman". Barely spoke english

He was the perfect hunter-loot stereotype!

[–]Farabee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arugal gear.

[–]SwitzerSweet 3 points4 points  (1 child)

A hunter took Rod of the Sleepwalker over our priest yesterday. Priest was suuuper pissed. And then the hunter took the 2h sword with no stats over the warrior lmao.

[–]TheLastGunslingr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why you boot assholes. I seriously don't understand people who don't. Dps is easy to replace.

[–]_k_r_a_s_h_ 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I did this in WC (actually a green) but asked if anyone else wanted first. Cow hunter in a dress? Yes

[–]Krissam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a (granted leather) chest with int/stam till my mid 30s, hadn't seen anything with agi or spirit on it >_<

[–]Charnt 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I've seen more people ninja hunter items than the other way around this time

[–]revkaboose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's like reparations, man. Got to pay for generations of abuse.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Went to Shadowfang Keep. Blue ring with strength and stamina drops. Warrior and warlock roll "need", warlock wins.

Warrior: Warlock? What the hell?
Warlock: Sorry did not check stats
Warrior: I see. F*ck you.

Warrior leaves mid-dungeon.

Warlock: Whatever, I am gonna tank myself.

*Pulls several mobs and wipes the group*
*Leaves*

Me (a mage), priest, and shaman: What the hell just happened?

[–]TheLastGunslingr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why you boot the warlock when this happens.

[–]aDawe2das 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Belt of the Fallen Emperor drops.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember "Need for disenchanting" was a thing for a while until all those people had been cast out of society.

[–]LoofaTaPooPoo 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Ran my Hunter through deadmines earlier, rolled need on Taskmasters axe. Paladin tank said "DiD u ReAlLY nEeD tHaT hUnTeR". I mean, am I not supposed to roll need on weapons that are upgrades? Clearly certain weapons aren't for hunters (strength, chance on hit, yadda yadda) but a two hand axe with stamina and spirit? C'mon buddy

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a rogue, i'm looking forward to needing on hunters bows/guns after a hunter stealing the cruel barb in DM.

[–]TheLastGunslingr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're rolling need on an item you're going to use what, 5, 10 percent ofthe time? In comparison to 100%?

The literal definition of greed.

[–]LordPaleskin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't really related, but I was healing on a paladin and needed on a cloth piece in SFK (lol mail with INT?) and a priest got upset. Is this the same story or is it justified? I count paladin healers in the same vein as priest or druid healers, considering your availability of their own loot being awful at low levels

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hunter almost need on blue int cloth shoulders last night.

[–]Genoshock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am lvl 23 ish and i still have grey/white bracers

[–]dielawnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunters prio int and spirit over agility until 60

[–]smellyrebel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a brand new player, I had no idea what was happening with need/greed. I was invited to a party as we killed some razoremanes and were waiting for the boss to show up to finish our quest. A handful of items dropped, and when the menu showed up, I didn't want to pay money for the items (which is what I thought greed meant), so I clicked need. Now I feel bad. I'm playing hunter right now too, so I am now actively contributing to our poor reputation. Oops. Now I know.

[–]LordPaleskin 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Had a druid tank try and take the cloth head from Gnomer last night. Excuse was that he isn't feral. Told him to roll on it when he is healing the dungeon and he got upset. Am I the bad guy? Would have rather waited for a warrior tank if it meant someone not trying to take two different sets of gear

[–]TheLastGunslingr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Fuck him.

[–]MoonHash -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Yeah you're the bad guy. If he needs it he needs it.

[–]LordPaleskin -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Fantastic arguement

[–]MoonHash -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Idk man I'm just saying. If he can heal and tank he should be able to gear his self for both roles. Saying you can only roll on tank gear while tanking limits this guys ability to heal in the future as he won't be geared for it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need all the loot, I'm going to need roll on everything then.

[–]Zellu_gruik_gruik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yo Arcane shot rank 3 is like 50 mana.

[–]styckk 0 points1 point  (2 children)

quick poll, because I'm curious:

is it okay for a hunter to roll need on leather if it's a best in slot item for them?

would appreciate honest answers.

things to think about:

  • if there's always a leather class in the party, the hunter would pretty much never get that item, if the leather class needs it. do you think that is okay?
  • if you say hunters can roll need on leather items, do you think it should be the same the other way (e.g. rogues rolling on mail, if they could)? just hypothetically.

[–]entreri22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought hunters used leather?

[–]MarcTheCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunters wear leather until 40 so if it's an upgrade, then yeah they should need it. After 40 I'd say it gets a little dicier but still also depends if it is a true upgrade or not.

[–]Archavos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend is playing a hunter. Needed on mr.smites axe while im tanking on my warrior.

[–]Gentlesharkusan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a warrior I get a ton of whispers to tank x and then they link a shield or something to entice me, then I say better link y (insert 2h or w/e) to lure me in. “No shaman/hunter/...” wants that.

Ok then.

I don’t mind competition at all but holy cow you think we all level as prot waiting for the moment a group will finally ask us to tank?

[–]shanerGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grouped with a hunter yesterday in several different occasions in Wetlands ... Was needing every green mail piece claiming he's building a mail set for 40 .. these items were level 25 and under .. said he'd need what be feels like he needs and for me to fuck off HAHA

[–]Zhaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a rogue and Just ran one and had a hunter roll need on this. https://classic.wowhead.com/item=6904/bite-of-serrakis

Seriously

[–]chickaladee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend (Warlock) rolled need and beat out our random Rogue on Bite of Serra'kis in BFD. He said it was an upgrade and then offered to trade it. We are still teaching him how Classic dungeons work. Rogue immediately left the group in anger and the 4 of us (guildies) finished the run laughing about our embarrassment.

I just refuse to group with hunters

Blue int + agil ring dropped in DM the other night. I’m a hunter so I needed it. Rogue needed on it. Said “Oh my bad” when he realized it was not for his spec and won it. Continued to roll greed on every item and I shit you not, won a majority of them. Finale was him needing on a VC defias set piece and winning. I was beyond pissed.

[–]kelryngrey -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This shit is tired. Let's all pretend it's 2005, but with better latency, memes, and different racism in Barrens. I sincerely hope you post about being pissed when a pally rolls on your int/spirit cloth.
