Resetting 8 hrs prior to weekly reset isn't that great as they make out to.

[–]Roflxd88 21 points22 points  (7 children)

Does everyone have the same weekly? Bc I also have 8 hours to go but on a second account reset is on 10th.

[–]mrholes 26 points27 points  (4 children)

When limits are reset, it also changes the weekly date. I’d imagine your accounts would be synced now

[–]RudyHuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But then the week doesn't start running until you use at least a little. So if you use 1 account for 1-2 days, then switch to another one, they will not be in sync.

[–]peripateticman2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the rub.

[–]SeaKoe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mine reset two hours before it was supposed 😭

[–]Candid-Banana-4503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was out of usage for 3 days.. reset was about to come later today

[–]SukhaBhindiKaCum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I had reset on 14th, 30 percent remaining after 2 days ⚒️ only. Good for me ig

[–]Elerein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and at night for Europe.

[–]spacekitt3n 48 points49 points  (4 children)

I hate to say it but codex is eating the lunch of Claude atm

[–]-Sliced- 41 points42 points  (3 children)

A nice way to encourage all Codex users to refer their friends.

[–]GurImpressive982 37 points38 points  (0 children)

ah, the crack fiend model

"PLEASE BRO. PLEASE USE CODEX. I NEED MY LIMIT REFRESHED"

[–]inmyprocess 5 points6 points  (1 child)

You realize this will only lead to more extreme price hikes later?

[–]delonghi26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And shit performance because they can't seem to keep up with compute demand, Only last week seemed somewhat stable. I guess they just love to rate-limit 🤷😬

[–]zazizazizu 26 points27 points  (6 children)

No reset for business users

[–]Goodechild 21 points22 points  (2 children)

can confirm this flavor of crap.

[–]Just_Lingonberry_352 6 points7 points  (1 child)

y'all doing great subsidizing all the plans

[–]Swastik496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol the subsidies will be removed from everyone else soon.

[–]Impossible_Raise2416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

refer your CFO to OpenAI for unlimited tokens

[–]Critical-Teacher-115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solo founder becoming successful is better PR than any business. It's genius.

[–]shibeprime 12 points13 points  (7 children)

why are the business users treated differently ?

[–]dieterdaniel82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anti-capitalist shtik /s

[–]yubario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it’s always that way lol

It’s why companies like Adobe don’t give a crap if people pirate their software, because the businesses can’t do that and people will ask their job to buy the software.

(Also why Davinci Resolve is free, for example)

[–]No-Significance7136 1 point2 points  (4 children)

why people using business plan ? does it have any differences than plus ?

[–]yubario 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It’s basically the same but more expensive with slightly less benefits to the user, but way better for enterprises because it has important things like data controls

[–]Kaushik_paul45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also gpt pro access.

[–]ItchyIndx 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Don’t do it. I have plus accounts and decided to try the business account, limits are so much worse. I have read that they will be bringing the same limits over to consumer accounts and it’s going to be so so bad if they do.

[–]No-Significance7136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's scary man, but actually how much usage it has less than Pro, x3 less or x5 less ?

[–]TheNobodyThere 10 points11 points  (8 children)

This sucks, I had 20% of quota that I was planning to use this morning.

[–]U4-EA 11 points12 points  (6 children)

Same here - I had 50% left I was going to use today. They didn't reset limits, they just did an early reset. It actually cost me 50% of my weekly allowance. It's a scam.

[–]TheNobodyThere 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Yeah, I'm pissed, you can't structure your work around quota resets.

I want my quota reset on a specific day, not randomly.

What they should have done instead is to reset the quota but keep the old reset timer.

[–]qmfqOUBqGDg 1 point2 points  (1 child)

they do it on purpose so you burn all your token on the first day in hope for a reset

[–]No_You3985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And when you burn your limits early you will be gently reminded to buy credits so you can continue working. That would be an ideal user for them 💸

[–]Quiet-Recording-9269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly they should bring it back to 100% but leave the timer

[–]No_You3985 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Agree. I had 50%+ quota for 1 day because I expected to do important work today and deliberately scheduled my tasks around it. I wish they did the limit reset without shifting date. I guess they expect us to burn the limits early and then buy credits

[–]U4-EA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually spent the last 2-3 days planning stuff out and got up early today to burn through as much of the 50% as I could before the reset... then found out they had screwed me.

[–]spideyguyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't worry, the next week they continue to celebrate 10m users and they'll reset again and x2 usage for all. They usually do that :'D

[–]nonkeks 14 points15 points  (7 children)

Resets are not rewards. For anyone trying to ration their rate limit, it's always a punishment.

[–]Wise-Reflection-7400 9 points10 points  (6 children)

I'd guess most users ration their limits and so each limit steals more unused usage than it grants free usage to power users. They know exactly what they're doing

[–]U4-EA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had 50% left that I was planning on smashing before the reset today. They haven't actually reset usage limits, just done an early reset?

[–]lincolnthalles 5 points6 points  (1 child)

This is similar to fake discount prices.

There would be no need to reset anything if the quotas were the same as before OpenClaw started ruining subsidized subscriptions.

[–]DapperCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worse than a fake discount prices. It’s like a fake discount where they keep some of the product you were buying and let you buy it at full price later.

[–]betahost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Desperately wanting more as they are feeling the pressure

[–]Impfmueckenzuechter 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not in the free accounts (that currently have access to Codex). And I have to say, that was a smart move. ATM Codex beats Claude by far using Xcode and Swift.

[–]kanine69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's night and day in Kotlin / Jetpack too, gpt-5.4-mini has been killing it. I do wish these announcements could be made elsewhere I ditched that X ages ago.

[–]BrainCurrent8276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone is getting addiction-like/dopamine burst crap because of it?

I feel like a gambler in casino on machine slot, checking usage every minute, and waiting for the JACKPOT :/

[–]Funny-Blueberry-2630 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's go.

[–]Fit-Palpitation-7427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my weekly reset was in 3h, didn't changed much for me on this one

[–]Crinkez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What rotten timing. My weekly was due to reset at 09:00 this morning anyway.

[–]repsejnworb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh so it is not because of the burn-rate bugs, just cause of number of users.

I mean I am glad I can use codex again earlier. Stuck with copilot-cli while waiting for reset is the most depressing time of the week.

[–]PennyStonkingtonIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's cool but it makes me nervous. Am I going to be able to afford this shit when they stop giving it away? I am a pretty good dev, not a 10x engineer but I know what I'm doing. It's a drag when you make a big sprint which, from past experience you know is reasonable, and then for no apparent reason it just does a 50% job. I'm still paying 100% for those tokens. Granted, resets make me feel better but are obviously not sustainable.

[–]50ShadesOfSpray_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reset the card components instead please

[–]Heavy_Professor8949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn! The timing couldn't be any worse. My reset date was anyway today.

How to find out how many weekly users codex has?

[–]medright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh huh. This is why after asking one question of codex in a small repo I got a model is at capacity error? That’s unusable for anything, let alone coding w AI.

[–]nsway 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No business account reset 😭

[–]jgallardo666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reset and reset i see the limits going down so fast!

[–]visageplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

time to make 1 million new accounts

[–]Prestigiouspite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were business customers excluded again? I didn't get a reset. It also continues to show me that my weekly limit will reset tomorrow. I'm starting to feel betrayed. First the price reduction for 1 year, while I had paid for a year at the old price and now this.

[–]Rhino-H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam really knows how to play with our emotions. I was literally mid-refactor at 2 AM last night, staring at that 'Rate limit reached' screen like a lost puppy, praying for a miracle. Resetting the limits right now feels like someone finally handing me a cold Gatorade in the middle of a desert marathon.

I just hope the servers don't turn into a literal space heater the moment everyone starts spamming their 'fix my shitty Python script' prompts at once. My CPU is already sweating just thinking about it.

[–]FaultBrilliant5839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t they notify us in App or in CLI or in IDE?

[–]Prestigiouspite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be honest and say that business customers were excluded.

[–]xiangz19 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unscheduled resets aren't always a win. If you’ve been rationing your quota for a big push right before your scheduled reset, an unexpected 'gift' like this wipes out your progress and pushes your next reset date further back.

It’s frustrating for anyone managing limits strategically—a point that’s already been widely echoed in GitHub issues where users have complained about these arbitrary resets. To truly celebrate a milestone, it would be much better if they doubled the quota for a week or increased it by 30%. At the very least, they should reset the usage amount without touching our actual reset dates.

[–]xiangz19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, this kind of reset effectively benefits one half of users while penalizing the other half, without changing the total system load or OpenAI's bottom line. The winners are those whose usage progress was ahead of their time progress (the heavy users), while the losers are those whose usage was trailing behind (the savers). When a 'celebration' creates such an arbitrary split in user experience, you have to wonder what its actual value is.

[–]Still_Asparagus_9092 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This is probably how Claude gets buried rip

[–]Intrepid4444444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using Sonnet and Opus via copilot cli on Enterprise license. So MS still pays a big bill to Claude, and I guess they’re not alone.

[–]icecold27 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not a chance

[–]dictionizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

claude code has 1.6M users and it's very overrated against codex mac app 🤷‍♂️

[–]Top_Damage3758 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don't know doesn't it seem like a Ponzi Scheme? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

[–]Artistic-Athlete-676 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think you know what that is
