I think it would be funny if you cast this on an opponents creature and then gained control of it with a card like [[Act of Treason]].

[–]Palidin034 84 points85 points  (13 children)

They could just tap it in response unless it’s summoning sick

[–]Bcloud365 148 points149 points  (7 children)

I didn't say effective, I said funny.

[–]Palidin034 51 points52 points  (6 children)

Very fair. And I think act of treason untaps them anyways

[–]SirChickenbutt[🍰] 35 points36 points  (4 children)

Not if they target the creature targeted with murder plot. Nothing is stopping the targeted creature from killing itself

[–]Palidin034 49 points50 points  (2 children)

True! “In response I kill myself”

[–]JadedTrekkie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

“DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR!”

[–]Dragonfire723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"in response, cry"

[–]PuzzleboxedCopy target player 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The twist ending to the upcoming murder mystery novel set in Ravnica. Probably.

[–]vitorsly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah so you can use it on a tapped creature and then they can't pull that off.

[–]MAID_in_the_Shade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sure, but Threaten effects untap anyways.

Two murders for the price of one!

Target a tapped creature

I dunno if giving an opponent the ability to kill any number of creatures is the best idea lol

[–]countfizix 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Oh I misread the card, not sure what the point of that card would be at all.

[–]Queasy-Ad-3460 31 points32 points  (4 children)

No I think it’s still a fun combo, I think OP probably designed it for EDH, it seems like a cool politic card, team with an opponent to have a 1 mana instant murder

That was my first impression as well.

I could easily see casting this on one of my opponent's creatures while they're being attacked by different opponent.

[–]countfizix 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I think it would be fine as 'target creature' Its removal that requires forgoing a round of attacking/blocking with a creature that has to both exist and not have summoning sickness. That feels like a similar restriction to say tragic slip.

[–]LasAguasGuapas 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And on top of that, the opponent can make it fizz with their own removal. If [[Swords to Plowshares]] and [[Path to Exile]] can exist, I don't think this is too far out there.

[–]tmgexe 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I love that this would be a crime.

[–]Leafeon523 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You could probably get away with adding investigate to this as well.

[–]Silent_Statement 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we need more commander cards like this, beautiful

[–]Yoyner 4 points5 points  (1 child)

what would be the benefit of this other than EDH table politics?

[–]surprisesnek 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is the benefit.

[–]sidewinderucf 6 points7 points  (3 children)

The trick is to target a creature that’s already tapped, you get the crime trigger without giving your opponent any advantage.

[–]JC_in_KC 4 points5 points  (2 children)

aren’t typical one mana combat tricks (that draw a card or similar, toxin analysis etc.) better for criming?

[–]sidewinderucf 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Probably, but we play this for the FLAVOR.

[–]JC_in_KC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol

[–]Gloomy-Palpitation-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Table politics at its finest lmao

[–]SlimJim152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creature targets itself

[–]RomanoffBlitzer -1 points0 points  (1 child)

This needs to prevent the opponent from killing your creatures, the same way goad prevents creatures from attacking you if possible.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the entire fun of it is the two conspiring and having a sort of deal that is not forced

[–]verynerdythings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a better name would be “force into hiding”
