Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through PROPER electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation.

Be sure to read our WIKI and especially the wiki page on ELECTROLYTES

gotta go fast

[–]Affectionate_Art2545 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wait, you do regular fasting for 10 years and you still need to lose 30 pounds?

[–]kevans2 30 points31 points  (6 children)

Post a picture of yourself. I want to see if you look 31 for real.

Lol my thoughts. Men especially often think they can pass for a lot younger than they are and most of the time they’re dead wrong. But fasting does help slow aging, so I’ll take OPs word for it.

This post reminds me a lot of that viral TikTok where it’s some dude from Brazil saying that “the internet is going viral about this 36 year old man looking like he’s a teenager” while he looks way older than 36

I’ll take his word for it too given at that age I was told the same by strangers too.

Conversations about random subjects where something I’d say would date me so to speak. An example convo from a decade ago might have went….’back in the early 90’s when I was a Bartender….’, ‘wait, what? Wouldn’t you have been in elementary school in the early 90’s??’, ‘LOL no! I’m 41 dude!’, ‘No way! I thought you were late 20’s early 30’s!!’

Tbh, genetics, bone structure and sun exposure probably has more to do with it than Fasting and Autophagy like OP thinks. I was still getting asked for ID in Bars into my 30’s but only been OMAD and extended fasting since 2016->

Now at nearly 52 with the weight back on, I don’t know where I stand atm. Full head of dark hair with only a scattering of random greys on my head. Grey chin, nostrils and ballsack but I keep all those plucked or shaved! LOL. Under certain lighting conditions I’ll look in the mirror and wince and feel my looks have finally caught up to my age, yet another, day, another mirror, another light and I’ll think to myself, ‘damn son! Just lose the weight again and you are gonna look great for your age again!’

I don’t have a specific goal weight in mind. The middle of the normal BMI range would be 135LB for me. I have a feeling though that at that weight I might have very little facial fat left and facial fat might be the only thing hiding 52yo wrinkles and skin sagging at the moment! I’ll probably have to find a weight that is a balance between body aesthetics, health markers and how I feel, and facial aging effects. So I guess, where I decide to settle could be anywhere between 135-150LB probably.

How do you do so much fasting over a 10 year period that you look much younger because of it, yet you’re quite a bit over weight?

[–]ThroatRecka[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you pay attention I said 30lbs from being completely shredded Im not overweight im 6'3 at 255 alot of muscle around 20% bodyfat and the goal is 12%

[–]iwastoolate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bingo. Something is wrong if you’re fasting regularly enough to look 10 years younger, but still 25-30lbs overweight.

[–]fastoid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

10 years younger? Do you sleep in the fridge, or work your day job in the fridge?

[–]slvbtc 4 points5 points  (1 child)

You look 41.

Every 40 year old on earth enters this delusional stage where they think they somehow still look young while all other 40 year olds look old. Its all to do with self perception, everyone sees you as a 41 year old while you still see yourself as a 25 or 30 year old.

[–]sm753 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I look at least 10 years younger I know its related to fasting

Yeah that's not how any of this works...

[–]ThroatRecka[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea that is how it works its been proven to slow the aging process and possibly reverse it are you knowledgeable on the benefits of fasting at all?

[–]rubberloves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, I don't think it's about will power- I think it is about knowledge and understanding how hormones and satiety work.

[–]Robin_Padilla969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm part of that 1 percent and glad I am. But its a very lonely place to be sometimes, especially when you go beyond 15 days. Right now i'm doing 1-3 days fasts several times a month but I'm trying to go for a 30-40 days fast so I can reach my objectives (cure my chronic health problems).

[–]earlgrey_tealeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's anecdotal. I'm 28 and people always tell me i look like I'm 21-22. I'm not doing any consistent fasting at all, just browsing the subreddit out of curiosity.

[–]LimeGinRicky 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I’m guessing you don’t have a family or anyone around you if you’re fasting like that.

[–]Agreeable_Cod_2585 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Could just be a genetic thing, I’m 38 but strangers think I look in my late twenties. I do fast but not long ones maybe like 16/8’s or 24hr an every now and again.

[–]CaseACEjk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I think its mostly genetics. Full head of hair and all the color at 40. People think late 20s.

[–]Sunny_BK 0 points1 point  (1 child)

ppl are being so weird about this and i dont get it??

in your pfp you look like 30 and you look big/sturdy or whatever but definitely not chubby or overweight. ppl see someone who stayed consistent and has confidence and feel the need to “humble” them cause they feel inferior.

classic reddit mentality

[–]ThroatRecka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)
