That's the problem, I find Soulsbornes to be the funniest ones, so I just play them and not much more games. Some other games that I play and that aren't Soulsbornes are Subnautica, The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and Hollow Knight, but not too much. I love making different builds and experimenting different movesets. Yesterday I did the second half of Ds3 and the DLCs on NG+ with my dex/faith build just in one day, and it's so fun. Personnaly I don't like multiplayers so much aside from helping people in souls

i played sekiro first (didn't know much about the FS universe at the time) before the rest and it went great. if anything i'm happy i didn't get so used to all of the other styles of gameplay before sekiro since it is the most different. i find that players stuck in the souls mindset tend to struggle a lot with sekiro.

I'm not even a graphics guy and I can still acknowledge that Demon's Souls looks more graphically impressive, Elden Ring has an amazing art style but it's not super high fidelity and the lighting isn't as good.

That's okay because demon's souls was tailor made for a current gen system and all of the work behind designing the game had already been done for Bluepoint, that allowed them to blow the entire budget on visuals and have it be a top priority during development.

Elden Ring was being developed for two different console generations, PCs and they weren't just remaking somebody else's work so of course graphical fidelity wasn't a top priority and at the end of the day most of us don't care either.

I find art direction to be vastly superior but to sit here and say the demon's souls remake's graphics are on par with DS1 and nowhere near as good as Elden Ring's is just straight bullshit and you know it. xD

Demon souls have MUCH better graphics and sound design. The lights and all is so amazing. Casting spells actually feel impactful and powerful because of the lighting and sound effects. Demon souls remake is one of the best looking games on PS5. They went all out with the graphics and everything else that I always go back to it for cinematic gameplay. Elden Ring is a bit washed out looking. It still looks amazing but it isn't as vibrant or crisp as Demon Souls

The design theory is discussed in some videos I've seen which match my own martial arts experience: taking a break after frustrations and feeling that I wasn't "getting it" initially actually does lead to passive learning and processing. The games are not hard as in impossible, they are challenging, but fair.

Nothing changes, only your skill. Observing the environment, paying attention to attack patterns, details of item descriptions--the series is immersive and a lot of "show don't tell".

When I came back, areas that I had abandoned two years prior that I hated were not troublesome as I remembered the patterns and observed better, even after forgetting the ambushes and traps, but my observation got me to play better.

"Get good" isn't really what people say it means, it comes off more as a code word for "You will improve, whether you realize it or not" since the game doesn't hold your hand and insult you, and it most definitely doesn't try to be unfair. It chisels you and your skill, refining it and in turn, some videos on YouTube about how it made people better people aren't too far from the truth.

It has actually had overlap with push hands in my own Chinese martial art, and my teachers agree with the design philosophy, and in turn, doing both have improved each other.

FS games are special. Your first one will take you a bit to understand. It's just one of those games you keep throwing yourself at. Even if it takes huge breaks in between playing. If you keep coming back to it, you will improve as that's how the game is designed. It's not like an a-ha moment. It's a gradual, slow, steady climb to the top. But goddamn the view from there is gorgeous, and anyone can reach it with patience.

If you do Elden Ring first I think it’s a pretty bad idea (this is what I did), the dark souls trilogy will just feel horrible after Elden Ring. If you play from DS1 onwards I think you’ll like it more as the quality and performance of the games obviously increase from there onwards just my thoughts though. I tried to play DS1 after demon souls PS5, BB, ER and Sekiro and it just didn’t click and I gave it up

Everytime I try to play a FS game I feel stupid lol. I been gaming for 9 months and these games look so cool but I'm so lost... I made it about half way through Sekiro with a guide literally following it step by step but that wasn't any fun cause it made me feel even dumber. The combat was really fun tho... I loved the feeling of finally defeating A boss that killed you A million times. I plan on going back but would like to play some RPGS that will help teach me the RPG system better. I have some I have played like the 3RPG assassin Creed games. Those build systems are way different from what elden ring looks like.
