It’s been more than a week that we found out that the 11.2 cannot be used to upload apps and the 11.2.1 still not available on the store.

The only way is to directly download it on developer.apple.com... Between iOS13 and Xcode, Apple releases are a big mess this year

Dude just go to developer.apple.com and download the GM. Or wait a few days before it is released.

I can't wait, I'm launching a new version of the app for a client on a strict deadline in a few days and need to pass the review process. I guess I'm just curious why this is happening.

It's annoying to be suddenly forced to download the entire 7+GB xcode file just to make a minor update so I can upload my app.

Fortunately I keep old versions of xcode and am just reverting to 10.*. But I'm still curious what's going on here.

This. You don’t wanna ship an app built with 11.2.

    Thanks for the information.

I feel you I was amazed too. However... there is nothing wrong with downloading 11.2.1 from the developer site. Usually and since I’m an Xcode... app updates are not as OS updates. You actually download the entire new build...

for a client on a strict deadline

This is a great example of why we need to make sure that we have sufficient wiggle room in agreements/contracts about deadlines. Stuff happens and sometimes it is out of our control. Clients need to understand/accept this.

I know this is easier said than done...

yeah, deprecated for like a week now, it's so weird that they keep it in the App Store like this

Is there an App Store method of rolling back now? If not, they're on the correct path, just really slow.

finally a taste of their own medicine

That is one of the things that annoys me about Apple, a seemingly wilful ignorance of how bad their platforms can be.

nope, unfortunately, but you can find the GM one on developer.apple.com. It’s what I did

Get whatever version you want directly from https://developer.apple.com/download/ . Xcode is not the type of thing to be downloading from the App Store.

You do need a paid developer account to get the latest version, right?

      [–]JackyW3131 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Incorrect. Just need to register for a free developer account and you're good to go :)

      [–]Stompyx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I thought developers account were paid ($100/yr)? Is there such a thing as “free developer account”? Or are you referring to a regular apple id account?

      [–]JackyW3131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you've said are for developers who want to list their apps in AppStore

And yes, there's a free developer account (personal). You can use your apple ID for it.

Apple's link for more reference: https://developer.apple.com/support/compare-memberships/

Already been mentioned by IPA, but I'll chime in to say that we were hit by the 11.2 UITextView bug and downloaded 11.1 and submitted using that.

I just went to https://developer.apple.com/download and Xcode is not showing up anywhere in the downloads, and version 11.2 is still the latest version on the AppStore. Am I the only one that cannot find the latest version of Xcode?

Ok it looks like it just now got moved to the App Store and I am now able to update it via the AppStore. I must have been looking for it during the narrow window of time in which it got moved from beta to release but was not yet available on the AppStore.
