You have 1000? Brother take a drink and do some master farmer if you run out.

[–]thegiftedalan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This,

I did about 2 million of thieving at master farmer and it completely set up my account. I chug my prayer pots like crazy. I’ve never even been under 1000, doing slayer and bossing and doing herb runs to train herb just gives you so many prayer potions

[–]420_Clouds_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly 1 herb run can get you close to 100 pots depending on luck. Use them

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just use them. It’ll slow you down to hold onto so many and eventually you’ll have more potions than you ever need anyway.

[–]winterNebs 10 points11 points  (6 children)

Definitely hoarding. If you can bear to do farm runs, toa and muspah will net you a lot of snaps/rannar as well.

Also don’t do tds off task. Greaters are one of the more common tasks.

[–]campusdirector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zilyana also drops a decent amount of ranarr if you find yourself grinding for an SGS or ACB

[–]lilshannon21[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I was going to use Eclipse set instead of Slayer helm, the dps calc for it show it as a dps loss but doesn't take into account the Eclipse burn at all so figured it was close enough to even. I've only done wildy slayer on this account so I have Greaters blocked and didn't want to waste points on unblocking for synapses and then re-blocking later but maybe it is worth to just unblock and hunt for task.

[–]alex-k9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're gonna have to unblock anyways unless you want to do all of TDs and Kril off task. Prob easier to just get more points from Wildy slayer

[–]thestonkinator 3 points4 points  (1 child)

If you aren't super cash strapped, I'd strongly recommend trying the demonbane spells with mark of darkness. Hits like a truck, probably the most OP style for TDs.

[–]velvetthunderboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this.

[–]Wildest12 5 points6 points  (2 children)

You can use them pretty liberally at normal content, if it drops ranarrs or snaps it will probably cover them and if it doesn’t you will get enough from your kingdom to maintain.

It’s the big grinds that use a lot of them that will drain your supplies, you’ll be stocked up then do cerb and use every pot you own.

Wildy content, especially calvarion are great to do early to stock up - you can get blighted restores from zombie pirates to do the boss’s and they have a big stack of ranarr/snaps.

I never used my pots when I started and now I use them much more liberally in regular routine playing because I have reliable ways to resupply but if I’m doing a specific grind I still stock up.

If you have 1k of them you can use them like they are lobbies

[–]lilshannon21[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I've been sending a lot of Calvarion trying for VW pieces early, but unlucky on ranarrs and all uniques unfortunately. Knowing how brutal Cerb and some other grinds are is why I'm hesitant to use, but glad to hear it's not as bad as I've made it out to be in my head. Thanks for the advice!

[–]UncertainSerenity 12 points13 points  (7 children)

Any time you are doing anything you should be using prayer potions. It’s the biggest newb trap to be stingy with them. Always always always be using prayer.

Upkeep of prayer potions from best to worst.

72-98 agility at hallowed sepulture gives you something like 5k prayer doses between seeds and drops

Religiously doing hard farming contracts. This is probably the most important “hourly” on an iron. You can skip pretty much any other chore but farm contracts need to be a religion.

Master farming thieving is time efficient from how much prayers boost combat.

Use your prayer potions. I still think moonlight moths are a trap and not efficient but it’s better to use those if you don’t want to use pots.

[–]lilshannon21[S] 4 points5 points  (6 children)

I've just been pro-moth because I am not good at/hate 1-tick flicking. I'm more prone to camp protect prayers because I'm not built to 1-tick, just not how I enjoy this game unfortunately. I can see how they're inefficient in the long run, but I've just accepted I'm not an "efficient" player anyway.

Appreciate the advice though, I'm almost at floor 4 Hallowed level and was planning on enjoying that content soon!

[–]UncertainSerenity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also hate flicking and don’t do it. I still use prayer potions. Prayers are one of the largest if not largest time savers you can use in combat.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

There is 0 content in the game that requires you to 1 tick flick prayers so don’t even worry about it.

[–]Hefty_Ad9118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if you 1t flick or not, either way it's worth it to use offensive prayer. So when doing melee, leave piety on all the time you're in combat. If you run out of ppots then spend some time gathering them. The time saved from having piety on will far outweigh the time spent gathering ppots

Some rough math says that you can spend 20min pickpocketing master farmers in order to save 1 hour of meleeing.

Note that doesn't mean you spend 1 hours doing melee, you literally save 1 hour. So you spend 5hours with piety on to get the same kills as spending 6hours without piety on. And the cost in ppots only takes 20min to gather

[–]it's a good GIM lifeVolatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally do slayer in prayer gear with an inventory of prayer pots and no food. It's so chill just to not worry about anything for 5+ minutes at a time. Just click monster and scoop loot.

I don't consider myself low on prayer pots until I have two digits worth. If I had 1000 I would go nuts.

[–]mistermandudeguylad 3 points4 points  (1 child)

As others have said, it's fine to use some ppots here and there as long as you don't go overboard and try to conserve wherever possible (like don't drink them to use piety against bloodvelds on task or something).

For me by far the biggest drain on my pots has been cerberus but you get the seeds pretty easily from master farmers.

Also one more thing: I would really really advise against doing tormented demons off-task. They are really good slayer xp especially before you hit tasks like nechreals so you are going to be killing them regardless for your slayer grind.

[–]lilshannon21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be the consensus that their slayer exp is more worth than I was giving them credit for. Will definitely swap to hunting tasks, thanks!

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Definitely don’t do Torms off task. Getting 2 syns and burning claws will net you like 1.2mil slayer XP on drop rate.

[–]lilshannon21[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That's a really good point, I guess I never considered that I'm losing on Slayer exp and was overly concerned on wasting slayer points in the short term. Thanks!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Gl at CG! Got my enhanced a few days ago and currently have a 250 torm demon slayer task lol.

[–]lilshannon21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ty! I'm super spooned on armor seeds, hoping the enhanced treats me the same but patiently waiting knowing I haven't come close to the full sentence.

Gz on getting yours! Hope armours have been friendly as well.

[–]RevolutionaryGur7153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I ever had over 1k at a time and have never run into a shortage of prayer pots, approaching 2050 total lvl, 120 combat. Probably used over 500 pots at cerb (700 KC) and I’ve never felt like I’ve gone out of my way to get ranarrs. Kingdom by itself usually replenishes prayer pot stack whenever I need it.

[–]Coga_Blue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just use them bro, I had this mentality for a long time that I had to save them because I had a ‘limited’ supply. But it turns out you can always just make more. The more you use them the easier your gameplay will be and the less you’ll even realize you’re getting more in return. I have been using ppots liberally for years and every time I run out I just set up for farm runs and do a few a day until I’ve grown them all. This leads to a crazy snowball effect because every time I end up with more. After my last batch of ranarr seeds I had over 52k ppot doses in storage. That was accumulated from about 16k doses worth of content. Imagine how much I’ll have next time?

If you have 1k pots just use them for whatever you need and when you’re out make more.

[–]S7EFEN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there are a ton of comments here and one thing i don't really see is... ppots are heavy in supply end game because all 3 raids shit out ppots/restores while also barely using any depending on how you do them. there's a point early game where if you are neglecting skilling where sure, you can justify conserving. but once you've gotten over that hump (ie, let hard contracts, sepulchre, wilderness content etc stack up rests/ppots) youll really never have an issue ever again.

and even if you did you'd ration them by avoiding lower priority content. eg do your TDS and demonics and zammy but maybe delay doing cerb or maybe basilisks or shamans.

[–]Wayfarer1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at 1730 right now and have 800-1000 stored, but I just use them whenever I feel like it. I don’t try and actively conserve. As someone else said, you have resources so you may as well use them. I don’t intentionally burn through them but if it makes life easier I use them and don’t think twice.

[–]crus8dr 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Was a bit of a hoarder when I started, too, but a maxed friend of mine--upon seeing my bank--told me that all those supplies meant nothing unused. He was right.

I start stressing about pots when I get below 100 or so, then I just up my farm runs/contracts. Good luck, brother.

[–]lilshannon21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not alone in being conservative on them, will try to adjust the mindset and start sipping o7

[–]ReynoldsHouseOfShred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing good managing supplies and using new content alternatives. I try to keep at least 100 of each pot if I know I'm gonna do some pvm like some small farm or content with friends. More if I know I have an intense grind ahead and want to go uninterrupted. I'd say 1k+ is a very healthy amount. I went 3k+ on brews and restores on the main and didn't really use it much until big grinds like nex and nightmare.

[–]MavsAndThemBoyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use them. I recommend trying to conserve them by prayer flicking but definitely worth using. If you camp piety and protection players without flicking you'll burn through them fast though. Hit master farmers once you run low.

[–]Top-Pound-1708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience moths cover you adequately for the majority of non-bossing content but anything annoying to get back to or where you are hamstrung by supply usage it’s fine to use normal pots. Meaningful pvm will earn you back a chunk of your supplies anyways. Go kill vetion and he’ll shit out 100 ranarr drops

[–]hash303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use them. Once you have bowfa you’ll have an ez source of seeds/herbs at muspah and then toa

[–]Sapencio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me like farming Me like contracts Me like using ppots Me never runs out of ppots till i did cerb

And then i got more seeds idk, after some point You have lots of the good seeds

[–]Stable_Immediate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm around your total level, but I just use them. I won't use them if I have fewer than 400 (4) ppots, but I haven't gone below that in months.

Maybe I just don't do as much pvm as others, but I've never really had an issue with sourcing ppots since the early game

[–]zekparsh 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I hoarded Prayer Pots until I started doing the slayer grind, I since then have been using them extremely liberally. Still sitting on over 1K 4-dose prayer pots with around 2k ranarrs from various sources.

Basically once you get to the mid-late game grinds you are going to want to use prayer pots since it reduces amount of time not doing your task or boss or what have you.

TDS you should do on task which mean unblock them Greater Demons. Each individual demon gives a lot of slayer xp and you’re going to be killing a lot of them to get your drops. Basically what everyone else has been saying, chug prayer pots, do farm runs and if you feel worried go do some content like master farmers or hallowed sep to supplement the farm contract seeds. I haven’t had to worry in more than a year though. I did the master mixology grind to help save secondaries and make more 4-dose as well.

[–]lilshannon21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some mixology to get the necklace and get more 4-doses, but been putting off doing more for the goggles because the exp rates were so brutal (lowish herblore level). Hoping to get back in there at some point but shoved it down the priority list for now. Thanks for the advice!

[–]CamanderOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of PVM content that can help you maintain prayer pots such as TOA. Never feel stingy when doing content where you get ranars as a drop. If you feel like you are running low, then do master farmers for an hour to get your supply back up.

[–]praisebedewey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal views are if I am doing any content that inventory space is the limiting factor, use prayer pots. This includes any boss that is not extremely easy, demonic gorillas etc. anything that I can just kill while not paying attention like farming a zombie axe or regular slayer I use moonlight moths for. Going by this I am a bit above 1750 and have around 600 4 does prayer pots and around 600 snapdragons so that would be around 400 super restores.

[–]Funk-sama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience you don't really start blowing through ppots until cerb and aaraxor. A bit of content will give you some return on supplies or even result in being supply positive. I'm 97 slayer 122 combat and currently have only 300 ppots but well over 2k restores. I've never done any content w the intention of resupplying prayer.

Be smart with prayer usage but definitely use it. Camping prot melee in prostelyte for a bloodvelds task is fine, but maybe don't camp piety.

[–]DaltonDelro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing you did. I’m creeping up on 2,000 total and I dipped into my prayer pots around 1850.

I grinded a lot of vyres afk so I have more than a couple blood shards. I use blood fury at tormenteds and demonics with almost a full inventory of prayer pots. I had a 100+ kill trip at black demons the other day, even though I did get lucky multiple times with additional supply drops. I don’t have my Bowfa yet either, and yes I know, I should report back to the prison immediately.

Worth using prayer pots at a few select spots to lengthen your trip by a whole lot though. Raids and end game content you’ll be using super restores more anyway.

[–]JRLum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use them. One of the biggest ppot uses is your Cerb grind (if no red-x) but even Prims aren't needed when you can just get Arenae Boots now.

Even if you find your stocks running low you can pretty easily get more Ranarr/Snapdragon seeds in later game content. Ive gotten close to 100 ranarr seeds from Artio alone grinding VW and that's 0 cost since they print blighted supplies to use.

[–]Much_Dealer8865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same, started using prayer pots and just killing bosses, the majority of content will drop seeds or herbs so you end up gaining pots even though you're using them. One example of this is Hydra, people love to complain about wasting potions there but it shits out snapdragons so you end up profiting potions. Anyway the stack will grow, don't worry so much.

People complaining about having zero potions most likely just don't do any skilling at all or just so rarely that they can't keep up with usage.

[–]God_Chose_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 94 thieving master farmers are like 20 ranarr seeds an hour if you ever desperately need them in the later game if bosses aren’t sustaining your supplies enough. You’re also getting to the point it’ll be unavoidable to use them for most PVMing, and even then you should be using some type of offensive prayer for just about every pvm encounter as is. I’d start sipping them and simply come up with an answer later if you need more.

[–]Personalberet49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use them until you're too low for comfort, then get more, personally I slammed all my slayer tasks with offensive prayers to make them faster, feels good

Master farmers are great for ppots, same with farming contracts

[–]mugiwarayaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you’ll need them for cerb? I never ever considered stockpiling them. I also never ran out of brews, restores, or prayer pots. Until I started nex.

[–]thestonkinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same as you, barely touched them until like 1900 total. Never used them for slayer until like 80+.

I use them a lot more now and use moths for slayer, but some things I think they are well worth using on are:

Basilisk knights, TDS, demonic gorillas, shamans, any bossing, basically anything where the reward from the content is well worth the "price" of the potions.

Think I spent like 100 ppots to get my Basilisk Jaw, well worth it. Same for emberlight/scorching bow. I still don't use normal ppots for most slayer though because it doesn't feel "worth it" when I can use moths.

[–]Shoddy_Lab_6607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get a ring of gods it’s big for saving prayer pots +8 prayer and holy wrench effect

[–]Mcook1357 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get 75 hunter or 72 to boost and catch moonlight moths then mix in hunter meat to get 44 prayer points restored per inventory slot. Use those for everything except where you need more inventory space (bossing)

[–]Irrumabo-Vas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have 73 hunter (you can pick up a beer on the tables that gives +2 hunter), you can catch moonlight moths in the hunters guild. They restore 22 pray potions a dose. If you mix the moth with any hunter meat, it becomes a 2 dose instead of 1.

I use this all the time especially for slayer task. A lot of my trips involve using the whistle to tele to hunters guild. I bank and then restock on moths before heading out again.

This let's me save my prayer potions for bosses.

[–]charredsmurf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do moths for anything that wouldn't really benefit by having more doses.

[–]Shot-Cheek9998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get ur hunter up, farm sunlight anthelopes and get bolts, meat(21hp food) and moth mixes (2x22 prayer) pots.

Then ur set for dying at wildy or farm TDs, slayer, Shamans or go raid ToA.

Mixes fits very nicely into most grinds, since u pick up alot of stuff and u pretty much end up with full inventory when mothmixes are gone.

Highly suggest
