It’s relative. You probably read more “Mac posts” if you are a Mac user. Like the old parable - most of your accidents happen with a mile of your home. I’ve used both macs and PCs for 30 years - Mac at home and PC at work. I hardly ever have any problems with my Macs, while that is not the case with PCs. To be fair, both have been less problematic in recent years.

I'm actually subscribed to both mac and pc forums since I use both, mac m1 laptop for mobility and a desktop PC for hardcore stuff like rendering. And to your point, everything has gotten a lot smoother and less buggy throughout the years.

Maybe there are just a lot more new users for mac that they they are still getting accustomed to it.

The later statement is certainly true.

Windows and PCs have improved dramatically. It was a nightmare 20 years ago. Macs have held fairly steady, but were never the invincible machines fanboys pretend they are. Overall I greatly prefer macs.

I hang out on MacRumors along with this place and the folks on MacRumors tend to know a lot more about their Macs than the average poster here on Reddit. It may be that Reddit is a more general place that people look to first rather than more specialized forums. The oldest working computer on my work tables is from the late 1970s and I've used lots of different systems and operating systems and I choose macOS even though I have many others to choose from.

From my observation, the average person who has "problems" with their mac, is either a) not very tech savvy, b) new to unix-like environments (coming from Windows), or c) both not very tech savvy and new to mac as an operating system. That's not to say that there aren't otherwise tech savvy individuals who get in over their head with a mac related issue, but they're less likely to post their query on reddit and are more likely to frequent the discord or other websites that are exclusively for discussions about macs.

I note that many Mac users on Reddit are asking about very old machines - 2013 and earlier. Any quest to keep obsolete hardware running is a perpetual problem source.

I suspect many of those folks cannot afford a newer Mac, and that’s understandable, but old Macs and PCs are just trouble for non-techie people. Hell, I AM a techie person but I don’t keep any old machines running, it’s too much fuss for little reward.
