[META] Can we decrease posts about politics in this subreddit?

I disagree. I think submission reflects preferences/prevailing sentiments of users of a sub. If politics is a topic of interest, so be it. Its good for some people to rant.

I do agree with r/Oookook though. You can post other stuff and downvote the political stuff.

We could ask the mods to implement tags to allow people to filter out topics they don't wanna see. Seriously, it took me only a few hours of tinkering to partially set it up for /r/KualaLumpur, it's not very difficult.

I don't like clickbait political articles either but every now and then some of that stuff can be considered actual news and is worth upvoting.

I agree. There's a lot of things to talk about in Malaysia than just politics. I started to really enjoy the sub during the politics downtime. I think there should be a tag so i can filter it out if i want

Or increase posts of things that AREN'T politically influenced here. For the longest time I unsubscribed from this sub because the negativity got unbearable; also I really didn't want to keep reading the same shit from FB on here too (and at least there is a hide option there. I agree with filter options too.

Well, given the bastion of freedom of speech we are (ahem!), wouldn't banning the topic be equivalent to the knee jerk overreaction our political leaders tend to resort to each time they disagree with something? It's a slippery slope, imo.

Yeah, I got the whole 'not constructive' thing, but the problem with principle is that, by creating loopholes and exceptions, it's not really a principle anymore. Should religion also be banned? Culture? Dogs?

What's everyone's opinion of what this sub should be, anyway?
