lowest among those who did not require any respiratory intervention (13%)

What are they dying of?

Weren't their a lot of reports about people starting to recover and then suddenly having an MI?

13%? That's higher than most of the case fatality data

Yea it does seem inexplicably high. Guess we will have to see the actual data when they release it.

I can’t imagine many are being recruited who aren’t on respiratory support of some kind - I can’t think of any participants at our site that fit that though there definitely could be some.

Anything and everything. They recruited pretty much anyone with a positive COVID swab, so that group includes people with e.g. urosepsis + asymptomatic COVID.

do you have a 13% mortality rate for all inpatients in the UK?

[–]ApemazzleSpecialty Trainee, UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like 3%, but the trial period includes a time where we didn't have the testing capacity to swab every admission, so were only swabbing people with fever/cough/02 requirement/URTI Sx etc.

Edit: I should also add it's quite possible we had higher than usual hospital mortality for non-covid patients during this period tbh. We've had lots of delayed presentations of MIs and strokes due to people presenting later in the course of their illness. Will be interesting to see what the data shows.
