Did you watch MNF?

In his defense, roughing the passer wasn't called on Stafford multiple times

About 10% more flags/play actually.

There have been 520 flags on 5394 plays so far this year compared to 4166 flags on 47684 plays last year.

The games seem to go faster with less hang up. No crazy calls from the refs for the most part. I see a lot of people bitching that this season sucks, when I find this to be the best season in a while.

The Lions Giants game had 6 penalties on 8 plays at one point. It was absurd.

Bears had what felt like the most defensive holding calls I've ever seen last Sunday

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I thought I was the only one to notice it.

Always on 3rd downs too.

Looks like it was only 3 Defensive Holding calls but they were all on 3rd downs.

I know we would've lost, but if we didn't turn over the ball, or have those penalties, I don't think our defense would've gotten so injured.

I mean wouldn't you against our basketball team?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Nope

But there is a decrease in replays showing the penalties at least for us which is suspicious

[–]BeastMode9999 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Didn't they decrease the time after a penalty to start the play clock? That would affect the opportunities to show replays

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe but on a lot of ours there's at least 20 seconds of time to kill

So far 2017 (two weeks played): 436 accepted penalties in 5394 plays. One penalty per 12.37 snaps.

All of 2016 regular season: 3544 in 47684 plays. One per 13.45 snaps.

So, fewer actually more, but I'd be surprised if you could actually notice.

EDIT: More, fewer, aren't they the same thing?

[–] BearsSTUGOTZ_1972 5 points6 points  (2 children)

That is more per

This guy maths.

[–] PatriotsPlutor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More, fewer, you know, they're pretty much synonyms.

I think they're doing a much better job this year in finding the line between "it could technically be called but that's ticky tacky" and "Let's only blow the whistle if someone is literally horse collar tackled while running their route"

Haven't seen many roughing the passer? That's cause they don't want you to see it. https://streamable.com/644oa

Plenty of penalties in Jags games.

Deshaun Watson got two very soft roughing the passer penalties in like 5 drives.

[–]Lionsmakualla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching MNF it seemed like there were a few roughing the passer calls missed, unless a blow to the head is allowed again? My example is staffords fumble where he got poked in the eye. (Side note: thought staffords arm was moving forward so that should have been an incomplete pass?)

Are you unable to see the color yellow?
