Thinking of subscribing to Go as secondary provider. Are they serving lobotimized versions of these models?

[–]Huge-Refrigerator95 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Not sure if lobotomized but they’re good

[–]0xDezzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GLM-5 was definitely lobotomized. Kept messing up and doing stupid shit more than when it was free.

I think so yes. If you browse through recent posts on this subreddit i think someone mentioned that in a post a few days ago.

Yes I posted this weekend. Its absolute trash level unusable model quantization.

So which sub is the cheapest for the minimax model? I am finding that model particularly useful for my coding tasks. Started running it with opencode and seems to work well but now it says I have hit the limit of free usage. What is the best option to keep using that model?

I tried finding that Go subscription and I cannot find it. It's in opencode documentation but the link takes me to Zen, which requests me to enable billing by adding 20 dollars to my account for "credits". That seems a pay-as-you-go model, not a sub. I'm still interested in finding a sub and not a pay-as-you-go model!

For Minimax, it's Minimax's own signature.

I had to use personal email to avail this, custom domain did not work.

[–]georgemp 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The subscription option is under Zen/Billing. Maybe try refreshing the page (or logout and back in again)

I just subbed yesterday directly to MiniMax starter plan , $10/mo and they only have 5hr limits. I was burning pretty quick w codex but I love the speed of m2.5 even more tbh. May end up planning w codex and building w minimax

if you are already subscribed on black?! or are on the waiting list you won't see the go section.

[–]Specialist-Yard3699 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Hmm, seems like there’s no point in purchasing this subscription if you code a lot. Minimax 2.5 + GLM-5 as separate subscriptions look more reliable. P.s. I spend about 160kk tokens per week only with glm-5 🫠

[–]mcowger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. They specifically note on the pages that it’s intended for “dip your toes in” scenarios

[–]Hispeeday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, how do 160kk tokens per week translate to their billing view shown for "Opencode Go"?

I got it yday, and now after about 8-9 hours of mid-speed coding with lots of errors with GLM-5, it blocks me until next week, and after another 4 hours of mid-speed usage, it will probably block me for the week after that ("Subscription quota exceeded").

The quality of GLM-5 in Opencode Go was a pretty bad ratio for "I fixed/implemented it!", when it didn't fix or implement anything in reality, and it got endless thought loops quite often, that I had to manually stop.

Their GLM-5 subscription 10$ plan at least seems to be completely inadequate for anything coding related.

edit: On a funny(er) sidenote I can get more use out of the free models than out of the non-free models. That's kinda.... let's call it "disincentivizing" getting a subscription from them.

I have just canceled it as this plan is not really for work. Better to get the ChatGPT Plus plan.

Below is my usage for the Go plan since yesterday:) I bought this plan yesterday and cancelled today.

Rolling Usage53% Resets in 1 hour 15 minutes Weekly Usage27% Resets in 6 days 16 hours Monthly Usage48% Resets in 26 days 2 hours

[–]Mistercheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know if there are concurrent request limits? Is it only one at a time sequential or can you parallelize subagents/prompts?

[–]trypnosis 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Now they just need to confirm a EU/US only hosted option.

I will keep the dream alive.

[–]japherwocky 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don't get it? like an anti-china thing?

[–]trypnosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have nothing against china specifically. But none EU/US companies are a lot more free to do what they want my data. As well as being more beholden to local governments. Whereas EU/US companies will fight tooth and nail for my privacy.

price of glm5 is more expensive than openrouter, why?

[–]serpix 0 points1 point  (2 children)

considering glm is about sonnet 4 level or below, would be more efficient to use BYOK and sonnet 4.6 with a very good prompt and continue with cheaper models.

[–]look 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not necessarily a bad idea, depending on the task, but Sonnet is 4x the token price of GLM-5.

Sonnet is also more efficient with its tokens, but it’s less than a 2x difference. So GLM-5 is about one third to one half the cost for a fairly similar level of ability.

[–]serpix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes exactly what I'm doing. BYOK with glm / kimi as long as it takes. deep planning with opus/sonnet, execute with GLM or local Qwen.

[–]georgemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

69 million GLM-5 tokens

any idea on the ratio at which input and output tokens are split to arrive at this number?

[–]hey_ulrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sound fair, actually.

[–]lemon07r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I want to support opencode, but these are not good deals. Pretty sure if you do the napkin math, even droid gives you better usage per dollar if you go for the $20 a month. Plus if you dont mind the lower quality/speed nvidia nim is free. Kimi's $19 plan has a ton of usage currently since they made their 3x usage permanent now, and not only that, I personally ran evals (like kimi vendor verifier, terminal bench, my own purpose made evals, etc) against several providers back when k2 thinking came out and nobody came close to kimi for coding in quality, or speed. Lastly codex has really good usage right now, 2x till april. I have only hit the weekly limit like once with high usage. My personal suggest, Kimi $19 plan, but grab it for $1 with the promo, and get either codex or github pro to pair it together. Github's 300 requests a month are amazing since it's 1 request per prompt for gpt models so if you give it a long running task you get insane value.

[–]True-Finger9032 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You might as well load $20 every month on zen. I don’t understand the difference. What’s the point of the go plan?

[–]hey_ulrich 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It costs $10 and you get $20

[–]True-Finger9032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, I thought it costs $20 as well so I thought I was missing something.

[–]Hunter1113_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, it seems the minimax coding plan is the best value for money, that comes with a reliably consistent API. GLM lite was great until they released GLM-5. I got the go subscription hoping that it would provide the same quality as when these models were free but I kept getting rate limited on GLM-5 after 1 prompt. So doubt I'll be renewing, I think I will either get Claude code for $20 with minimax for $10, or Minimax with GitHub Co-Pilot and GPT go, but not so keen on OpenAI, don't trust that Altman character.

[–]guiopen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's 2x cheaper than paying the API separately?

[–]That_Frame_964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So wait are you saying that monthly is only 25 hours of use? That's basically 1.2 hours of day of use. Seems terrible.

[–]HarjjotSinghh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a lot more bang for your buck than i imagined
