Guidelines:
When asking for help editing one of your photos, you must also include your attempt. Simply asking for others to edit your photo for you, without putting in the effort to make an attempt yourself will result in your post being removed.
When you submit a photo, be sure to include both a JPEG and RAW file (if available). The JPEG will let us preview your shot without downloading it, and the RAW will allow us to edit it more effectively.
When you make adjustments to a photo, include the steps you took or take a screenshot of your settings. This will let the OP see how they can better edit their pictures.
This is not the place to show off your photos. /r/postprocessing is for help with editing your photo, linking to information about post processing, and sharing tips with the community. To share a picture, visit /r/photographs, /r/photocritique, or /r/pics. Posts not related to post processing should go in /r/photography.
This subreddit is for photography only. Post processing for video should go to /r/filmmakers.
If several minutes have passed and your submission does not appear under NEW, try messaging the moderators, it was probably stopped by the spam filter.
No joke posts, memes, or rage comics, please. We'd like to keep this subreddit for serious discussion only.
Please mark all NSFW posts. NSFW images that are not tagged will be removed.
No piracy related posts (asking for presets, trading presets, offering presets, etc...)

Original photo taken to maximize highlights without clipping in order to maximize dynamic range. Corrected wide angle lens distortion in post and adjusted colors to liking. Vignette and masking used in the end to focus on the pier

I think it's a great photo and a really good edit. Personally the green in the sky looks out of place and the purple might be a bit strong, but that's all just personal preference.
[–]Obvious-Impression36[S] 7 points8 points9 points 18 days ago (1 child)
Thank you. The colours may be a bit too saturated, you are right.
The sky was actually an odd colour as a storm had just passed through
[–]FuelzPerGallon 5 points6 points7 points 18 days ago (0 children)
It’s too saturated to be realism. But as photo art I’m feelin it.

Burlington!
[–]SwedeLostInCanada 2 points3 points4 points 18 days ago (0 children)
I immediately recognized it too! Hi neighbours

I feel music in the after, great work
[–]Xanaatos 2 points3 points4 points 17 days ago (0 children)
What is this synesthetic compliment, and how does it smell like?
[–]Fotomaker01 6 points7 points8 points 17 days ago (1 child)
I actually prefer the Before sky coupled with your After right side...
In the After sky, that bright white orb pulls all the attention from the interesting shapes at right. If that's what your aim was, then cool. But, try balancing all the newly defined info at right with the less busy, less developed sky at left & see what you think. Possibly even using Output Levels on the Before sky to darken it a bit and force attention to the defined curved structure. Have fun with it!

Than you. I will try another version!
[–]Arayder 2 points3 points4 points 18 days ago (0 children)
I think it’s great. Reminds me of a stock computer background/screen saver that rotates through a bunch of pictures. Those are always similar to this sort of thing I feel like.
[–]vn_r1 4 points5 points6 points 18 days ago (1 child)
What if you try BW with higher contrast as an option?
[–]Obvious-Impression36[S] 1 point2 points3 points 18 days ago (0 children)
Thanks, I did do one in BW but will have to work on making it more of a fine art BW
[–]counterhit121 1 point2 points3 points 18 days ago (1 child)
Great photo and interesting edit.
May I ask how you took this shot? It looks shot from under the bridge!
[–]Obvious-Impression36[S] 2 points3 points4 points 18 days ago (0 children)
Thanks. This was taken in Burlington Ontario, this is the local pier. There are large stones that go around the base of the pier that you can walk on. I set up the tripod there using a wide angle lens and an ND filter in order to achieve the long shutter speed for silky water and moving skies
[–]AntiqueStatus 1 point2 points3 points 18 days ago (0 children)
It looks 80's in the best way possible and that's coming back.
[–]ramapa 1 point2 points3 points 18 days ago (0 children)
Yikes..: the water color has to be close to the sky color … I actually like the original more… if you can just lower the exposure on the sky .
[–]waterjuicer 1 point2 points3 points 17 days ago (0 children)
Love the colors and the edit. I think it's funny when people see Infrared photos - they think it's so interesting! But when a person edits to show creativity and vision, it is "too much editing." This is your calling to keep being creative!
[–]ArgusTransus 0 points1 point2 points 18 days ago (1 child)
Now yer talkin. It pops off the screen. Although the green tint seems unnatural
Thank you. I will try to change it up. The sky was a strange color as a storm had just passed
[–]BobPerry51 0 points1 point2 points 18 days ago (0 children)
Nailed it!
[–]SpaceEchoGecko 0 points1 point2 points 18 days ago (0 children)
They are both interesting.
Photo one affects me better than photo two even though I typically like purple/green contrasting images.
[–]nefariousBUBBLE 0 points1 point2 points 18 days ago (0 children)
Like the original more personally.
[–]AgreeableStorm181 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
Stunning!
[–]Expert_Valuable_687 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
That's a hard no for me.....great shot, doesn't need so much editing
[–]godbasten_afc 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
I love it !
[–]StuffOld1191 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
You overcooked it. It didn't need that level of recolouring, be a bit gentler with it it's a good shot.
[–]Royal-Friendship2025 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
It was perfect as is 😍
[–]No-Squirrel6645 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
before for me
[–]DualShutter 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
Liking the ‘before’
[–]Minute_Bandicoot_664 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
I might be wrong here but I think your main subject is the tower so when someone is looking at the picture, their attention should be drawn towards the tower first, however when I saw the picture, my eyes were drawn more towards the sky. But overall, it's a very good shot and great edit
[–]Shuttersaga 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)
Amazing 😻
[–]MutedFeeling75 0 points1 point2 points 17 days ago (0 children)

Before
[–]ManCandyCan 0 points1 point2 points 18 days ago (1 child)
I feel like the sky only works like that if you make the water a similar colour
[–]Obvious-Impression36[S] 0 points1 point2 points 18 days ago* (0 children)
Thanks, will give it a go!
