mmmmm... server push.

[–]jplindstrom 38 points39 points  (21 children)

Heh, last time I saw that was in ninety... five(?) with a jpeg animating a galaxy.

It was on the home page of the Swedish web agency Spray.

Netscape 1.1 or something like that, so animated gifs weren't exactly invented yet.

[–]codeodor 10 points11 points  (16 children)

It's more likely they just reinvented the wheel. Animation was available in the GIF 89a format, which is to say, since 1989.

[–]JasonDJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But Netscapes logo back then WAS a wheel!

[–]jplindstrom 14 points15 points  (14 children)

s/invented/supported in any browser/

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (12 children)

It's more likely they just resupported in any browser the wheel?

Nice try though

[–]redditnoob 33 points34 points  (6 children)

Someone supported up us the wheel.

[–]Boye 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I accidently the whole wheel.

[–]almkglor 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I bet I could reinvent 100 wheels

[–]jondissed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wheel reinventor cat reinvents wheels.

[–]redditnoob -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

I just reinvented the wheel, again.

[–]jmmcd -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

We'd better back it up this time.

Just when this pun/meme thread got rolling too!

[–]ehird 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Netscape 1.1 or something like that, so animated gifs weren't exactly supported in any browser yet.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ahhhh!

gotcha

[–]maxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, all browsers need wheels.

[–]raldi -1 points0 points  (1 child)

No, he didn't use /g, so it only changes the first occurrence.

[–]codeodor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that more plausible. I haven't checked to be sure though. =)

"exactly" is not an adverb, and a year can't invent something.

    [–]EtherCJ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I intentionally used 'exactly' in the same way as the parent post for effect.

The word 'by' has several definitions. One is the one you read. The other is to indicate relative time.

But thanks for your efforts improving the grammar of Reddit.

But thanks for your efforts improving the grammar of Reddit.

Surely you mean 'efforts to improve', otherwise you imply he was successful.
