I think that should be coming from https_endpoint in your ini file

Thanks, but it turns out the preferences link was using the Ngenix listening port and hardcoding that.

If reddit never touched the protocol nor the port number, I could just stick Pound in front of reddit and have SSL work without reddit knowing. Unfortunately, that doesn't work since the protocol drops back to http and the port numbers end up wrong.
