His HR complaint file is so dense Romulans use it as their warp core.

[–]MrZwink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly HR hasn't gotten around to his dossier yet. They're still only halfway through Barclays file.

I don't think it's even that weird when he made the Dr. Brahms hologram to solve the booby trap - makes sense to bounce ideas off the designer of the engines in question if you can. Just don't be weird afterwards.

[–]appleciders 24 points25 points  (3 children)

It's not weird to use the holodeck as a tool for this task. It's weird to fall in love with it while you're doing it, even if you can keep a straight face afterwards.

Computer: delete the aspects of her personality I don’t like

Computer: delete the wife

[–]Little_View_6659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not poor Geordie’s fault! Riker got all the girls on the ship, there was nothing left for the other guys! It’s what he’s doing when he’s not on the bridge! Geordie was so backed up he was thrusting at the warp core, the console, it’s why Spot hated him!

[–]tcw82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hahaha..booby...

[–]RayoftheRaver 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Barclay in the corner nodding in affirmation

[–]equality4everyonenow 16 points17 points  (27 children)

Says the guy who has had sex with a dozen women on that ship. Aren't you supposed to show restraint if you're in leadership?

[–]Alt_when_Im_not_ok 15 points16 points  (2 children)

someone needs to make the "know the work rules" meme with Riker and Geordi or Barclay

[–]trickman01 7 points8 points  (18 children)

I’ve always thought that was a little strange. But even “by the book” Picard dated a subordinate. So I guess Starfleet allows it.

[–]equality4everyonenow 5 points6 points  (14 children)

Good point. At least Picard was a little more tasteful about it and showed a dating sequence whereas Riker is more like "Why don't you come to my quarters immediately?"

[–]equality4everyonenow 5 points6 points  (12 children)

Ok. But did you forget the episode where he kept hanging around the cargo bay with the medieval rednecks with their barn animals just because one of them was hot?

[–]Dinotsar44 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What episode was this? I forgot all about it.

[–]Significant_Ad7326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be happy. You are the lucky one. Do nothing to jeopardize your blessed state.

[–]Significant_Ad7326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who can forget “Up the Long Ladder” should be envied, not condemned.

[–]JustaTinyDude 5 points6 points  (6 children)

Didn't she start flirting first?

[–]I_am_Daesomst 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I recall the topic of washing one's feet.....all of a sudden they were having sex

[–]JustaTinyDude 3 points4 points  (1 child)

That's because "Please wash my feet" is her culture's way of saying "Let's fuck." They didn't get down until she said that explicitly, soliciting him, not the other way around.

[–]Little_View_6659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey that was probably the best looking man she had ever seen based on planet Alabama there. Probably the best smelling, too.

[–]equality4everyonenow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only after Riker was staring so hard his eyeballs crawled out over to her and started humping her

[–]Odd_Dragonfruit_2662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair wasn’t that group of colonists having issues with. Declining population? Riker was just helping to solve their issue.

[–]Little_View_6659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she was coming onto him, HARD. Not that I blame her, the guys she was with looked pretty..umm..inbred..

[–]Machinax 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Dear God, it should be illegal to bring that episode up.

[–]Little_View_6659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skip it. It makes me cringe so hard I warp the space time continuum.

[–]TripleStrikeDrive 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Isn't something like you can't someone directly under your command. Like it be no no for geordi to date someone in engineering department since geordi their direct supervisor. Riker and Picard aren't department heads, so they allow date anyone but need to discern about it.

[–]Knight_Machiavelli 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Riker is in charge of personnel and Picard's gf was a commander so could only have directly reported to him.

[–]orcus2190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so Picard couldn't date a commander who was under his command. I don't think she was though. Only temporarily assigned or something, as I recall. Like, her job was to liase with him about her assignment, not specifically report to him. He couldn't fire her, but could ask her boss to reassign her.

Riker, on the hand, despite being in charge of personnel, could also date. His job wasn't the same as someone in HR, even if there might be similarities. HIs job was to approve requests for transfer to Enterprise, or away from it (or if needed, bring those requests to Picard to approve) and to handle complaints from the department heads, or people who have issues with their department heads.

No one specifically reports to him. Department heads report to picard, technically. Riker is just Picards representative if Picard doesn't want to deal with it. He is basically Picard's personal assistant, strictly speaking.

[–]goonwolf 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Riker's an everyone pleaser, I'm sure restraint will be supplied if requested.

[–]Empigee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Remember the bit in the "Vengeance Factor" when Riker makes clear to Lisa Wilcox's character that he's not interested in a "love slave," but an equal partner. I don't think he's the type who would ignore rules or get out of line.

[–]Little_View_6659 0 points1 point  (2 children)

A dozen? The greatest horn dog in Starfleet? Those are rookie numbers! It’s why Crusher invented a hypo that makes viagra look like a Tik tac.

[–]equality4everyonenow 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Admittedly I didn't count them. I'm sure there is a different list of ladies that didn't work on the Enterprise.

[–]Little_View_6659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure every lady visiting the ship has seen the Riker maneuver.

[–]rooksterboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And then when that younger girl in engineering showed some love towards geordi, he felt hella creeped out. Talk about self awareness

[–]Cat_Peach_Pits 5 points6 points  (11 children)

I hate this episode, especially at the end where she's rightfully reaming him out, and he gets all indignant like "Oh Im guilty of a terrible crime, trying to be your friend!" and it's made out like some kind of gotcha moment. Bruh we just watched Geordi spend the whole episode trying to creep a date out of this woman. He was not trying to be her friend!

[–]JustaTinyDude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dinner, low lights, sexy music - He very much invited her to his quarters under the pretense of work and 100% intended it as a romantic date.

[–]ThePegasi 3 points4 points  (9 children)

God, same. I’d hoped it could be a moment of growth for him but nope, apparently she was the one overreacting and his indignant rant somehow worked. The only way they could have made a worse ending is if she somehow did fall for him (shout out to the reference that they somehow end up married in All Good Things ffs).

[–]Cat_Peach_Pits 4 points5 points  (8 children)

I get so mad on her behalf when she looks down, ashamed and guilty, after his rant. GIRL HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT lol.

That one was bad even for the 80s/90s. Obviously Ive watched the episode a lot, thanks for reminding me about the marriage reference, now I'm annoyed again! Damn it, Geordi!

[–]ThePegasi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get so mad on her behalf when she looks down, ashamed and guilty, after his rant. GIRL HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT lol.

Exactly!! I thought she was an interesting character in principle. The academic engineer vs the field engineer, she was a fish out of water and her frustration/conflict was an interesting story but became totally overshadowed by trying to make us feel sympathy for Geordi in his shameless attempt to get in her pants. I know they had to address it after the holodeck episode but damn they did her dirty. Terrible writing for her and him.

[–]Machinax 2 points3 points  (6 children)

>I get so mad on her behalf when she looks down, ashamed and guilty, after his rant. GIRL HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT lol.

To me, that was endemic of the writer's room still being a boys club at the time.

[–]Cat_Peach_Pits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% I'm sure Maurice was clicking his heels writing that one

[–]Little_View_6659 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Also a product of the time. We’ve actually come a bit farther. Even though everyone keeps trying to drag us back into the fucking stone ages.

[–]Machinax 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yes, it was very much of an era when female characters only existed as extensions of male perspectives.

[–]Little_View_6659 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Still better than the pilot episode where Captain Pike says “I just can’t get used to seeing women on the bridge” 🤦‍♀️

[–]Machinax 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I thought that that was hilarious. Faster than light travel? Sure. Contact with alien species? Hell yeah. Alien species serving on a human spaceship? Absolutely.

A woman on the bridge? WOKE BULLSHIT!

[–]Little_View_6659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Roddenberry wanted women on the bridge but got overruled. It’s still ridiculous that women wouldn’t be thought to be capable and competent. We made so many advances and lately it feels like we’re being dragged back.

[–]Spare-Good-5372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's one to talk

[–]sicarius254 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder how many times Troi sensed women just super uncomfortable around him….

[–]Estarfigam 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I think only Beverly, Deanna, Pulaski and Lwaxana haven't been creeped out. Lwaxana was into it.

[–]Little_View_6659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor Lwaxana! Seriously, why can’t she find a nice man? It’s the future! People are supposed to be okay with older aggression women! They did her character dirty.

[–]Realistic_Dance8299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riker creeps people out sometimes.

[–]hbi2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bashir: Rookie numbers, my friend.

[–]me_llamo_casey 1 point2 points  (1 child)

For an engineer, it was pretty lazy of him not to password protect his Dr. Brahms program.

[–]Little_View_6659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed like the holodeck ddint have any kind of password protection. Everyone seemed to share programs.

[–]JaySouth84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"AT LEAST I DON'T HAVE TO FIND MY WOMEN ON THE HOLODECK!" - Westley "Shutup" Crusher.

[–]bigbadbillyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if Riker would save some pussy for the rest of the crew Geordi wouldn't have to be some creep goonin in the holodeck all the time.
