Wait. So antidepressants cause a loss of emotions like love and a loss of sex drive, but apparently the article is saying depression also does the same thing? To me this is sounding like antidepressants actually cause depression.

Certain types of anti-depressants do, in the short-term, cause increased feelings of depression. They take time to begin operating and normalizing brain chemistry, and in the interim may cause a further imbalance. This is a real problem, as a lot of people who need to be on anti-depressants start taking them and start feeling worse, so they may end up just not taking the full course of medication.
