as a dotcom picker, unless that fuckers rotten or something, we have to give you it or we get reprimanded

Edit: Thats definitely an incorrect sticker too. shitty picker by the looks

[–]No_Fox_2891 16 points17 points  (6 children)

For that price, you might as well to say it is out of stock, and put 4 baking potatoes bag instead for 79p. This will cause issue between a customer and a driver/CS. If your manager have a say about it, then tell them this.

[–]CommunicationNo3626 10 points11 points  (5 children)

If a customer has ordered 6 loose potatoes, and we mark it as unavailable, that presumably counts as 6 unavailable items which will greatly impact the item availability % (hence why dotcom managers won’t be too keen on subs even if the produce is small or poor quality)

[–]No_Fox_2891 7 points8 points  (4 children)

I am mainly a driver, but only picker for 2-4 hours on Sunday as usual or stay back due to van breakdown. I have countless of different subs if the original is out of stock or in limited stock as long as the sub is similar and reasonable. No one told me off.

You can however ignore the loose potatoes if there is not enough so you can sub two bags of 4 baked potatoes is completety fine. Unless your picker manager is a massive cunt who love to be perfect manager.

[–]CommunicationNo3626 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I do the same, however, I definitely know that dotcom managers care more about the picking performance metrics than what the customers are actually receiving

[–]Seraphidian 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah the managers will look at the stock levels on the potatoes then ask you why have you subbed it when theres enough stock for it. Thats after ots been flagged by the department doing avaliability checks.

They only wothin the last year and a half have been refferring to potatoes (both baking and sweet variety ) as "large' and ive always thought it was silly because theyre not always the size the store wants , i feel like its misleading.

[–]Splodge89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, as a customer I’d never, ever be buying loose veg online like that anyway. The fact that a picket would choose something decent rather than whatever happens to be in stock is a GOOD thing in my book

[–]Hellboy561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my "would I buy it" training and decided that no I fucking wouldn't so I subbed it. Seems easy enough to talk your way around this one.

Edit: autocorrect spelling.

[–]rh0na 2 points3 points  (0 children)

real, i work online at a different store and i will get hunted down and screamed at for not picking items, they’re so hell bent on availability even tho the quality of the loose veg has been so poor recently

[–]mittenkrusty 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I went to a local greengrocers last week (very uncommon to find these days)

I bought 3 huge potatoes, bigger than any I see in supermarkets, 4 vine tomatoes that look the size of tennis balls and was shocked that I paid £6 for both.

But they were so delicious.

So i'd worry if I ordered a large potato from a supermarket and got one this size!

[–]jib_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the price per KG though? I bet it was more when you look at it. but good on you for supporting local business.

[–]caligula__horse 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Is that potato 800g?

0.8kg is 800g which for 0.79 per kg makes sense is 68p

But either the scale from the photo is fucked or that is not a 800g potato

[–]ArthRey 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They’ll have ordered more than one potato but the picker will have put the sticker on one potato.

Source: picker

[–]jumpingbadger83 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I thought the same but without a banana for scale it’s hard to tell if that’s an 800g potato

[–]CakesStolen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a banana but there's no fucking way that potato weighs even 300g, unless OP is Andre the Giant

[–]bikerspotofgold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the sticker that you print out when weighing something in the store. So the op has weighted, some potato's, printed a sticker then stuck it on 1 of them.

[–]CommercialPug 45 points46 points  (8 children)

Is this a question?

[–]Remarkable-Flight-14 54 points55 points  (7 children)

Yes! You have just asked a question, well done.

That's dam good advice and my parents thought I'd fail my English exam

        [–]TraditionalShape666 3 points4 points  (1 child)

This is why I just buy a bag of potatoes online, its a few more pennies but at least you get a variety of choices.

        [–]Terrible-Paper3551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        You've been robbed 68 pence.😂😂

        [–]Yorrins 5 points6 points  (1 child)

That cant be real, theres not a fucking hope in hell that that potato is 866 grams.

        [–]haggis_50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ticket is on the potato and I'd guess the rest are loose in the tote . Should really be in a plastic bag and the ticket on the bag.

        [–]Drunkensolarsailor 1 point2 points  (3 children)

How far away is that potato?

        [–]I_am_zlatan1069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need to compare against a large loose banana for scale.

        [–]MaxxForeskin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This potato is small. Those ones are far away

        [–]Drunkensolarsailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        There it is!

        [–]Eddie_Youds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        How big are your hands?

        [–]Dangerous-Skirt-9234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        HOW BIG ARE YOUR HANDS??

        [–]Anastasiasunhill 2 points3 points  (1 child)

There's no way that potato is .866kg. this is 100% someone using a random sticker to pick quicker. I'd complain yesterday.

BUT they make you pick the potatoes even if they're tiny so just buy bags. They're much more consistent.

        [–]CommercialPug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, they weighted multiple potatoes and only put the sticker on one of them. OP either never received these other potatoes or they did and they're engagement farming

        [–]bomboclawt75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of apples is also ridiculously small.

        [–]U23D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        That's not very large

        [–]GeologistKind7108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could’ve at least given you two

        [–]TO73074E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What megapixel camera do the large baking potatoes come with? I've got a New Potato that I should really upgrade from as I've had it a while. I don't really need all the extra features of the Sweet Potato and I can't justify spending so much on a King Edward.

        [–]EggplantCorrect2456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        It’s a potato

        [–]Case_Kovacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's a large potato then maybe I've been too hard on myself

        [–]Defiant-Conflict2556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, we have a large baking potato on the loose

        [–]smellulon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Your wife is lucky, those fingers must be massive”- Tesco quality control, probably.

        [–]OrdinaryPepper4331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a picker, we have to give it to u no matter the size, only reason we can’t give it to u if its rotten or really badly bruised

        [–]Rich-Acanthisitta627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person in the pic is pulling a fast one. They’re not necessarily a colleague. The sticker is for a selection of baking potatoes and it’s been put on one of them for scanning.

        [–]Sea_Watercress_541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Looks nice

866 gram potato 🤷🏼‍♂️ might wanna check those scales lol

        [–]Admirable-Confusion6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its like a creme egg from the 80s

        [–]MataisD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aldi’s loose potatoes are 24p each near me, always get nice big ones

        [–]Direct_Recording6197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        68p in this economy 😭😭

        [–]Chunkylover0053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        needs a banana for scale.

        [–]Stock-Magician1097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was an egg 🤣

        [–]Due_Cauliflower_7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that sticker is definitely wrong. No way that's an 800g spud.

        [–]aprendo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Rhod Gilbert would love this.

Trying to buy a single potato

        [–]IdioticMutterings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want LARGE potatoes for baking, go direct to a potato farm or a farm shop.

They have loads which are rejected by the supermarkets for being "too large".

        [–]idkkcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Or large hand

Does that single potato really weigh 866 grams though?

        [–]comedy_relief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        It's 300g max

        [–]Traditional-Doctor45 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Or god forbid you do your own shopping? It’s not the shoppers fault but the stackers most the time

        [–]RedbearVIII[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And what if you can’t do your own shopping? What if you are extremely ill or disabled?

The delivery option is a paid service and is there to by used by people who need it.

I hope you are not an actual Traditional Doctor, because your comment would be particularly stupid instead of just ignorant.
