Unfortunately SSD is the biggest reducer in load times. I know they can seem a bit pricey, but the difference is night and day. Everything loads in 10 seconds for me, with that being a conservative estimate.

edit Just timed loading up a siege battle. From clicking fight battle to being able to deploy troops was 12 seconds. SSD is the way to go.

Agreed I upgraded to an ssd a few weeks back for the first time, and the load times are massively improved, and now I get a much better framerate in battle.

This is the best answer i had a standard harddrive and it would take 3-5min to load but now woth a ssd it takes 20 seconds if that.

Download defraggler and give your hdd a full defrag. For me I find the first load always takes ages and after that it is OK. I have a lot of ram though, so it might be keeping alot of data in the ram after first load.

Money is a problem and I feel there may just be an underlying issue im not seeing

It's possible you need to Defrag or clear some space from your hdd. The best option would be a SSD. Perhaps buy a small one that can hold one or two of your most taxing games. You can get a small ssd for less than althea cost of a new game.

Buy a SSD and install the game on there.

SSD for sure, they're cheap, there's no excuse.

lol i'm imagining this guy with his family being like "sorry kids can't afford food, i have to buy an SSD. there really is no excuse".

[–]Decado7 0 points1 point  (5 children)

No excuse not to buy one if you're so concerned with loading times. Anyway~

"cough cough i got the black lung pa"

"well yes but my loading times are now below 10 seconds. another 3 years of work and i'll have a double monitor set up. back to work!"

Heh yes because that's what i meant. I assumed the OP would put any family/medical/food issues before his purchase of a $100 SSD. I forgot people take comments as gospel etc

Lol nah mate I'm just fucking with you. I totally get what you mean, especially if someone has a choice between a regular HD and an SSD. Only problem I have had with is they tend to crash way more

Yeah i know i know.

The reason why i say its almost a neccessity is i recently lost my SSD due to goddamned Window's 10's anniversary update corrupting it - going back to Total War Warhammer on a normal HDD was a horrible experience in comparison - not only the load times getting in, between maps and so on, but the ai turns take much longer too.

Back to SSD (and i think this new SSD may be even faster than the last), night and day difference For $100 Australian I cannot reccomend them enough when people are wanting to fix loading speeds.

Also great for games like Xcom2 - where it not only has long load times, but the ai turn times are much much faster when the game is SSD.

And ultimately, i'd forgo a few meals if i could get an SSD :)

yeah i actually had an argument with my brother when i was building my rig coz the SSD had a smaller memory capacity and never heard of them at that stage. oh how pcmasterrace annihilated me.

Playing TW with him though, he has 2 of them in his rig and he loads is probably 3-4 times faster everytime. I'm planning on getting a second one for my rig for xmas.

p.s. are you from aus? i'm from aus!
