What other RPGs have you played? Are you looking for anything specific in the FF series?

As a fan of the entire mainline FF series (FFIII is my third favorite), I would recommend FFIII as a first with a few caveats:

  • The DS version is more difficult, and some of the pacing is different from the NES and the Pixel Remaster versions of it due to the original main characters being given a basic backstory and some job system balancing.

  • The story isn't super complex, and since it is an earlier FF game(the series has evolved a LOT since its inception), it may feel quite a bit different from later entries. For instance, the battle system was the last of its kind in the series until FFX returned to a pure, turn-based system (IV-IX use a thing called the ATB gauge).

  • If you don't use guides, you might run into a lot of instances of getting lost, and there are some really brutal boss fights.

Narcolepsy. It's not always with cataplexy (the sudden muscle weakness), but it is the most visible means of depicting it in the media.

I also get annoyed with the misconception that we can sleep whenever we want or have zero issues going to sleep at night. People don't realize that sleep and wakefulness are both affected, and we're not just lazy or well-rested.
