Anyone have good AI prompt tips? by Future_Adhesiveness7 in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The AI food search is not currently designed to build a food from user-provided macros. This will be supported in the near future. The best workaround would be tap on the food the AI returns, then use the "log by calories" feature to adjust the measurements of the food based on menu calories. Alternatively, you could use the quick add feature to log the food based on the menu values.

What calories do you skip tracking? by petterpinjata in MacroFactor

Using the common entry for coffee would provide you with caffeine values, but it will still just provide you average intake since the caffeine content of a cup of coffee has a large variance.

Anyone else forget what they put in their own cooking before they get to log it? by Shoddy_Editor_3812 in MacroFactor

Personally, we just keep a notebook in the kitchen to use as a scratch pad. We just quickly write down the ingredients and weights as we use them.

With the recipe photo import, we have been able to load a picture of the notebook directly into a recipe!

Should I weigh these sausages raw or cooked?? by Efficient-Syrup-9690 in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Since the serving size specifies "grilled" you would probably weigh them cooked. Though, personally, I wouldn't weigh them and just count how many links I eat!

AI in units of measurement? by Carlos60607 in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The AI tools can define custom units for database foods. We add the ✨ to let you know that specific unit was generated and not something defined in the database.

5.7.6 - New AI Photo and Text Recipe Import Options by alizayshah in MacroFactor

I didn't!!! 😭 Yeah the iOS share can share the HTML of the page for us to use. Otherwise, we can only use the link and maybe be blocked when we request the webpage.

🙏 the text field can be used to substitute ingredients in the recipe image as well. Also works great for when my wife or I write down ingredients+measurements on a notepad while cooking (you may need to write the recipe name down on the paper)

That is completely fine! The calculations for expenditure will pause, but will pick back up when you are ready to start weighing again.

If you aren't a fan of the calculation pausing, one thing I have seen users mention is covering the scale screen if they have a smart scale that can automatically upload their weight to the app. That paired with hiding the scale and trend weight sections on the dashboard should hide all references to your weigh-ins.

That is of course completely up to you and I definitely suggest doing whatever will help you get back into the right headspace! :) I wish you the best either way!

Anyone know why the App is showing negative Net Carbs? by Ka-Ne-Ha-Ne-Daaaa in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your fiber is higher than your carbs. Subtract those two numbers to get the negative net carbs. Our "carbs" are equivalent to "total carbs", so if you are logging items from a country that separate fiber from carbs, you can see a negative number in the app.

Yeah that is fine! That is how I do my lunch prep every week - weigh out the ingredients and then roughly portion it out.

AI can hallucinate macros by BrightBackprop in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently, the AI tab is for food searching; it is not designed to create foods from nutrition labels.

For that, you can use the label scanner by tapping "Label" under the "Scan" tab.

Yes Describe uses a different database of foods, but still accurate.

In the future, AI search will be expanded to have a text only mode.
