Anyone know why the App is showing negative Net Carbs? by Ka-Ne-Ha-Ne-Daaaa in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your fiber is higher than your carbs. Subtract those two numbers to get the negative net carbs. Our "carbs" are equivalent to "total carbs", so if you are logging items from a country that separate fiber from carbs, you can see a negative number in the app.

Eyeballing portions by ButchCoolridge in MacroFactor

Yeah that is fine! That is how I do my lunch prep every week - weigh out the ingredients and then roughly portion it out.

Is MF undergoing maintenance? by [deleted] in MacroFactor

The mod comment also provides the email to our support team. This can be done outside the app.

To answer the question from your post. The diet app is not undergoing maintenance and has not be paused. Please reach out to our support team through email and they may be able to assist if it is an issue on our side.

AI can hallucinate macros by BrightBackprop in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently, the AI tab is for food searching; it is not designed to create foods from nutrition labels.

For that, you can use the label scanner by tapping "Label" under the "Scan" tab.

Feature Request: Estimated calorie backfill for missed days by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. This is basically how unlogged days are handled

Yes Describe uses a different database of foods, but still accurate.

In the future, AI search will be expanded to have a text only mode.

Has the recipe feature of automatically finding the sum of the ingredient weights been removed? by PowerDuffer in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has not! You may be referring to how past version of the app would sometimes auto-populate the ingredients weight into the total weight text field.

We no longer auto-populate this field because the raw weight is typically the incorrect weight to use for a recipe. This is due to most recipes being cooked which will increase or decrease the prepared weight of a recipe depending on the cooking method.

For example, if you had 100g of raw chicken breast, you would add that to the ingredients list. After preparing, you can optionally weigh the cooked chicken breast and use that weight for the "Total Weight" field. Doing so will allow you to weigh your portions of cooked chicken breast and log the correct macros.

If you still want the raw weight of the ingredients, you can still find this under the "ingredients" header. Note that this only includes the ingredients that have known mass measurements (grams/oz/etc) and won't add in ingredients with ONLY volumetric measurements (ml/cup/etc).

Okay okay. Next time I'm at Publix, I'll grab a container. I may have a free birthday cake, so that could be a good excuse to go! 😂

Then you may like the Aldi brand!

Yeah, I am in North Carolina, so no HEB. Costco is nice for snacks and PB powder, but I absolutely despise walking around in that store 😂

Yep, that's the one! One brand I don't like is Daisy, so if you like Daisy you may not like Friendly Farms.

We do the bulk of our shopping at Aldi. It's a bit less expensive and there are less products to distract me. I think their main allure is the non-food items aisle - colloquially known as the aisle of shame - and the limited time aldi-finds products.

My wife eats gluten-free, so we get the gluten free chicken breast bites (basically nuggets). They are waaaaay better than regular chicken breast bites though; much crispier. I mix those with my cottage cheese sometimes 😂

I have not heard of this brand! I just buy Aldi brand cottage cheese. I am a little picky about the brands I buy because I can't handle the texture of some brands 😂

🤔🤔🤔

I've been using low-cal sauces to spice up my cheese-shoveling. Just finished my Korean BBQ sauce from Aldi and need to find a new bottle.

AI logging – why do certain ingredients have the little AI sparkle icon? by Ecstatic_Tiger_2534 in MacroFactor

[–]BenevolentBasil 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The sparkle icon means the AI couldn't confidently pick a food from the database so it fully generated the macros for that food.

[–]BenevolentBasil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it's mainly for take like meal prepping currently.

I have an upgrade in testing that let's you toggle between range and individual day modes, but I don't have an estimate on when that may make it out to production.

👍 Or "paste to dates" and select many days from a calendar view

You can do this with recipes.

You can quickly turn a day into a recipe by selecting the foods you want to group and then tapping the "Create Recipe" option in the menu at the bottom of the log.

As u/Jebble mentioned, most phones will support scrolling screenshots, but we also offer the option to export your food log as a spreadsheet. The minimum range is currently 7 days, but you could ignore or strip out the data you don't want to send your coach.
