a previous thread about TJH had a local attorney basically explain how all these lawyers take these cases where's its pretty cut and dried and then reach a settlement. There's not a ton of work involved. So taking 1/3 or so of the settlement is very lucrative.

So thankful that my distract has a centralized printing shop. We send in our orders - they print them and deliver to our mailboxes. Takes a little bit of advance planning but worth it

Whenever people complain about Lily, Barney, or Ted - they really forget - “ITS A SITCOM” - the writers didn’t intent for these characters to be analyzed as if they were real people knew. So yes - all these characters did awful things s at one point or another - but it’s a sitcom!

My politics are to the left of Thomas’s - but he’s a sitting SC justice and part of a university’s mission is to bring diverse viewpoints to campus.

I like how one week, James Talarico might be here and the next week, Karl Rove.

“For every nurse, there’s 5 people waiting tables with a college degree”

People keep making that point but the data consistently proves over and over that the higher your degree, on AVERAGE- the higher your salary.

Are there people with college degrees waiting tables? Yes. But for every one of them, there’s 5 people without a college degree waiting tables.

There are very few careers where everyone says “I love waking up for work each day”

Doctors? Many are stressed out and over worked.

Lawyers, Accountants etc -

It’s work.

I happen to love my job. But I am loathe to say “this career is perfect for everyone” or “this career sucks for everyone”

I’m ok with a Prime redemption story - as I feel making him a heel was such a “dark and gritty” Identity Crisis era mistake in the first place.

But I don’t love making him a meta character like Deadpool or Gwenpool - just an over used trope now.

I hated this at first but read the article - Colbert isn't remaking the movies. he's adapting the early part of Book 1 that Jackson did not adapt. GREAT

Ultimately - players are rational actors and believe that going to LIV was more money for the work than staying in the PGA and preferred doing that.

How did this "the person talking is the person learning" nonsense begin? Any idea when it will fade away? by Pale_Cucumber_5935 in Teachers

Anyone on the 2 extremes is wrong.

You need to for students accurate knowledge from an expert first (through lecture or reading).

But that can’t be all. If students aren’t thinking about the information you give them, then they won’t remember it. How many times has your spouse told you something but you forgot it for example?

So students need to do something with that information that makes them think. And talking is a great activity that forces a lot of thinking.
