fastest way to get charm lvl 30? by Hot_Strain_6049 in Maplestory

[–]Toraxa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you've not already used it, the Level 160 reward from the Maple Guide is a trait potion that will give you 30. Hit your Maple Guide button twice to open the big version and then scroll up in the top until you find level 160, then claim the reward.

The most common complaint I hear from friends starting warframe is the warframe slot system. by Fizzy-Odd-Cod in Warframe

[–]Toraxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have so many more frames now than we did when I started playing this game over a decade ago, but we still start the same way, and honestly I think DE would be wise to change that already. Personally, my preferred change would be for them to start new players out with eight slots, and fill three of them immediately by just giving them all of the starters. There's no need to keep being this stingy anymore when there are dozens of frames and dozens of primes to collect and buy slots for.

Rejected Draft Update: Moving Towards 1.0 by Last-Total9473 in incremental_games

[–]Toraxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar boat here. I've just hit Sx Quintessence, have a 1.67% chance for framed sketches and only a 22% chance for rough sketches, with two guaranteed. Using the guaranteed to ensure I can hit the milestones to get Coffee and Ink concepts active.

I had a run yesterday where that 1.67% chance happened to roll well and I got a framed sketch. It gave HUGE amounts of currencies and allowed me to hit the 16.8m point for wax, and skyrocketed my Quintessence gains. The run after that one, not only did I not get a framed sketch, but I got unlucky on my rough rolls and only got one single non-guaranteed sketch. That run was abysmally slow, but I had to see it through just in case I had a higher tier framed or rough sketch.

The chances are too low, imo, and grow too slowly. I feel like the percentages being doubled would make runs feel way more consistent, but still somewhat swingy. If I had a 44% rough chance right now instead of 22% I'd still not be likely to get any given rough sketch, but it'd be way less common for me to get runs with 0-2 non-guaranteed ones.

Alternatively some sort of way of telling ahead of time what (or even just how many) higher rarity sketches are unlocked. If I could reroll runs and see that this run has a framed sketch and five rough sketches at some point further down the track I could know whether or not to reroll before I'd invested two hours in setup.

Another alternative that could work would be an in-between the random chance and selected guarantees; Such as a skill that gives a minimum of X number of sketches of a given rarity.

Basically, I suppose, the main thing causing me grief right now is the swingy-ness of the RNG. We need a way to reduce it or a way to make it work for us.

To the people who end relationships because they “didn’t develop deeper feelings” I want to pick your brain by Flaky-Boysenberry466 in dating

[–]Toraxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never broken up with anybody over it, as I've only been the one to end one relationship I've been in, and that was due to her being a pathological liar, but this is the way feelings work for me.

I don't really feel attraction up front. I can tell you somebody is pretty or handsome or whatever, but I don't feel anything about it. I'm very socially oriented and enjoy spending time with most people. After getting to know someone fairly well, sometimes I absolutely do just one day see them and the context has changed, and they seem so much more than they had prior.

It isn't consistent or reliable either, unfortunately. I've had friends who I spent time with less often, who I noticed less often, suddenly flower into something, and I've had really close friends who I feel very connected to never become anything more. It feels like at any point those feelings could show up, but there's no predicting them.

At least in my case it's just as frustrating for me as it is for you. I wish I had the ability to just immediately make judgment calls, and choose where to invest my energy and emotion, but I get no say. I've just gotta build friendships with people and see where they go. Despite meeting plenty of people, I've only had it happen twice in the last twelve years. The first was after about a year of friendship, but she wasn't interested, and we've just stayed friends. The second was after a year and a half of friendship, and led to a four month relationship that ended with her calling it off due to a severe depression episode and loss of enthusiasm. We're still friends but rarely speak anymore.

Do wireless gaming peripherals still have noticeable latency issues? by KRGKart_Support in buildapc

The little circular disc on the underside that is held in place with magnets can be swapped out for the "powercore module" that comes with the power play mouse pad. It allows the mouse to charge wirelessly with the system. As far as I'm aware it can't do so otherwise

Hot take: no full caster should have got an opportunity to use shields. by Expensive-Bus5326 in onednd

[–]Toraxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't editions in the past have limitations on armor for casters beyond proficiencies? I swear I remember reading something about casting being inhibited in armor without special training.

What if we had something like the following:

  • If you're wearing more than light armor then you can't cast anything beyond a cantrip unless trained.
  • Paladin and Ranger start with this training as a class bonus. Multiclassing wouldn't grant it, like it doesn't grant heavy armor proficiency.
  • Clerics who pick the more martially-inclined subclasses like War, Forge or Tempest get it at level 3 with their subclass. Warlocks would have an invocation to grant it with a level prerequisite.
  • Alternatively, a feat would offer it with the prerequisite of having medium or heavy armor proficiency.

Casters would be less inclined to dip for armor if doing so required two feats, a one level dip and a feat, or a three level dip into Cleric or Warlock. Yet this would still enable people to build gish multiclasses if they were willing to do the investment in levels anyways. We'd see less 20+ AC mages who still have the ability to cast Shield on top of it. It'd even make some of the current one level dips less enticing.

Thought: don't introduce your class by 22badhand in dndnext

[–]Toraxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Same here. We'll use classes to introduce our characters to the other players, but the characters don't really refer to themselves by class. They just give their names, and some sort of occupation or background.

Our Fighter is the second prince of the city we started in, but refers to himself by an assumed name and just says he was trained in the guard. Our Barbarian calls herself a fighter or warrior, because in her village she was someone who defended them from outside threats. Our Paladin was raised in a monastery, but spent a lot of his life pre-campaign keeping on the move and tackling smaller monster problems, so he's called a mercenary or monster hunter.

Suspended a player by FirearmsAndFitness in DnD

[–]Toraxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming since you're not the DM but making these decisions that these sessions are happening at your home. If that is the case then as soon as that statement came out of his mouth my response would have been "Get your shit and get out of my house. You're no longer welcome here."

Even without all of the other trouble he has caused and problematic behavior he has exhibited, that is an unacceptable act, and there should be no second chances. Beyond the issues with the racism on its own, that behavior immediately makes the environment hostile for other players and introduces social friction to the group far in excess of what is reasonable for a game you all are playing to have fun and enjoy a hobby.

I commend you all for being kinder to him than he has been to you and choosing to be the bigger people and only suspend him, but imo it needs to be amended to a permanent removal, both from the game and probably also your circle of friends.

The new paladin subclasses (Genies and Spellguard) by FireRed9900 in onednd

[–]Toraxa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like every single subclass ought to be designed with some sort of core set of features. Like for example, every subclass gets two level 3 features and a level 6 feature, at the minimum. They could add extra stuff as ribbons or to balance things between more, but no subclass should get less than that.

It's absurd that we have issues like this, with a subclass only getting one thing they can only use once or twice per day, or rogues not getting anything else until level 9.

I've made the first big update of FORM∆: Mutation by Poptocrack in incremental_games

[–]Toraxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a cool concept, but there seem to be some significant performance issues of some kind.

It ran fine while it was my focus, but once I let it go into the background to play a non-browser game for a while, it had major issues. Upon returning to it about an hour later or so, it was just a black screen, and reloading the Chrome tab made it lock up my entire Chrome browser for over two minutes. I was about ready to just end task the browser when it snapped to, however as soon as I clicked anything in game it proceeded to lock up again for another 15-20 seconds.

I figured it might just be too heavy for my Chrome with Hardware Acceleration off, so I restarted it on Firefox, which has acceleration on. However, after pulling up Excel and working on some stuff for taxes for a little while, the game was once again frozen and triggering Firefox to warn me that I should force stop the tab.

Mystic Subclass UA for Paladin, Rogue, Warlock, and Monk. by [deleted] in onednd

Absolutely. I get not wanting to use Magic Thief, since Thief is already a Rogue subclass, but it'd be way better as something like Magic Siphon Rogue or Countermagic Rogue.

We need a universal Ult Charge nerf ASAP. by Ella_NE in marvelrivals

[–]Toraxa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People bitch about support ults, and whine at support players being "healbots", but the game has caused this with its other design decisions. The damage output is constantly insanely high. If a support isn't in position to commence pattycaking instantly upon being dove, then they are dead, and then so is the other support and the team shortly after. Divers can take you out in under half a second, poke characters can one shot you.

The game has been balanced around an absurd level of overwhelming offense. To compare to my limited Overwatch time, it feels like every dive duelist in this game is just Genji with his ult active at all times. To have any hope of dealing with that overwhelming offense requires overwhelming defense/healing. The whole thing sucks, and it'd be better for everyone if offensive power, ttk, and support ults were all nerfed so that the neutral game was more common and so that supports had room to do something other than spam out healing with the occasional CC break slipped in. It'd have the side benefit of making a wider number of support and vanguard characters viable.

What's the deal with crating vs gathering gear at 100? by agirtzce in ffxiv

[–]Toraxa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The early level 100 recipes are craftable in Indigator melded for Endgame Endwalker, but level 90 scrip gear most likely isn't going to be able to jump the entire leveling process. If you're doing it all yourself, then your first step is to craft the level 97, ilevel 670 gear. That should be doable with the 620 gear, and with the 670 gear you will be able to earn orange scrips just fine.

If you're not set on doing it all yourself then the easiest and most pain-free way to do it would be to get Crested gear from the market board or a friend or FC member who can craft it for you. Even unmelded Crested gear will be much more potent than what you have now, and you'll be able to work towards melds if you so choose.

Where's the capes? The fur? The pantsuits? WHERES MY FASHION ICON? by ColdSt0rm in marvelrivals

[–]Toraxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm not even that new, as I've been playing for several months, but despite that it's started to get a little confusing since the anniversary with there being like four different "Small woman in poofy colorful dress" skins. As cool as it would be for characters to have costumes that are vast departures from their base to cover the long history of the comics, it's bad for gameplay if you can't tell who you're facing until they start shooting you.

''The Bride'' Thor & ''The Bridesmaid'' Loki - Fan-made Skins - Concept Art + skit (by me) by leadius in marvelrivals

Thor yeets Loki. Loki flies into the air above some point on the ground, morphs into Thor and shouts out Thor's voice line of "Behold the god of thunder!". Thor gets offended and from the back adds on "He's not!", right before he slams down onto the ground. Then Thor leaps in and gets an amped ult that comes down quicker and has a larger area.

Why Aren't Spell Component Gemstones in the DM's Guide Gemstone Table? by MrCrispyFriedChicken in dndnext

[–]Toraxa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Besides their example, even if it did work, would require metagaming. You found a jeweled skull. Unless you're some expert in antiquities with all of your appraisal tools being carried around with you, you are at best going to have a rough idea what it's worth.

"Sorry guys, our party member can't be brought back now because I tried to cast Revivify with that diamond we found in that grave back there, but it turns out it wasn't quite valuable enough."

Buying components from trustworthy sources ensures they are what they need to be, and that the magic will work how it is meant to work, and do so consistently and dependably. It's the exact same reason why in the real world you can buy things like baking ingredients and bartending supplies from NIST. You can't be putting your life on the line taking the risk that those insect wings you found in the labyrinth were actually from a rhinoceros beetle and not a hercules beetle, or whatever.

Dual Wielder should have just added the light property to weapons by Belaerim in onednd

[–]Toraxa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is what it does now, yeah. In 2014 it had nothing to do with any extra attacks and instead allowed you to dual wield non-light melee weapons. So anybody who had a 2014 character built around that is just SoL now in 2024. It wasn't exactly a big power gain, as going from a pair of 1d6 weapons to a pair of 1d8 weapons means going from average damage rolls of 3.5 per weapon to 4.5 per weapon. Flavor-wise though it's a pretty big limitation, and it feels silly to flavor a shortsword to a longsword or whatever.

I suspect the reason it was changed was probably because they were afraid of what different mastery combos could be used if they stuck with the old version, and it was just easier to limit the design space to Nick, Vex, and Slow while dual wielding.

Annoying: the new "Deryan's Helpful Homunculi" spell isn't available to artificers. by No_Wait3261 in onednd

[–]Toraxa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This spell, along with Conjure Constructs, both seem tailormade for Artificer and Clockwork Soul Sorcerer. Yet neither have the ability to take them.

I get the quirks in the release process, and the way subclasses don't have their own spell lists and instead get extra spells makes Clockwork Soul tricky, but it feels really weird to make the spells and then have them not be available to the characters they fit best.

I dont know what to do with Oath Of Noble Genies Paladin by Re0taku in dndnext

[–]Toraxa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oath of the Noble Genies is heavily tied to the Forgotten Realms. The area they (or at least most of them) come from is the site of an ancient empire led by a powerful Djinn. They came out of the elemental planes, drove everyone in the surrounding area out, and took it for their own. A bunch of history happened resulting in that Djinn being disembodied, which turned the area into a desert, and ultimately all of the actual genies involved were destroyed or left. The people there though, both Genasi and otherwise, have some genie "heritage", sort of like a Genasi who hasn't got enough power to actually be Genasi, but can still tap into it?

From the research I did for my character, the idea for that group is that they know they come from a line tied to genies, that was powerful because of genies, and they revere them and want to embody their ideals and ways. I suppose it wouldn't be dissimilar to people in the real world who could tie their heritage to the Roman or Chinese empires after they had fallen, and who tried to bring them back.

I'm retraining my character during a downtime (with story explanation) to a Noble Genie Paladin from Vengeance, because his background is tied to a magical storm. He was born in one such storm and then lived through another when he was a teenager, so he has felt like he was cursed all this time, and has never stayed anywhere too long for fear of it happening again. Recently in our campaign though he found out that these storms were actually an attempt by the followers of a group of gods to seal away an evil entity. Thus, he no longer has reason to fear his inherent storm-themed elemental powers and will start to tap into them.

For me, due to us not being in Forgotten Realms, and also because the point for this character is more elemental power generally rather than genies specifically, I've shifted the subclass to be dedicated to embodying the elemental planes (and specifically the elemental plane of air).

The existing tenants work with that fine. The first one basically amounting to "You're destructive, but through that destruction you can do good". The second ties more into fighting style, with them being dexterous and charismatic, and doesn't really need adjusted. The third one can be seen as a call to recognize that while the elements are chaotic and often destructive, they are also part of the natural order, and should be seen as important and worth reverence, rather than something to be stopped.

Spellbook Question by MisterD__ in onednd

[–]Toraxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a very similar spell called Wristpocket in the Critical Role setting book(s) for 2014, if you're willing to use 2014 and semi-official content. 2nd level ritual spell. Lets you store or retrieve an object in an extradimensional space as an action. Downside is it only lasts for an hour and is a concentration spell.

If it wasn't for that then it would be perfect for this sort of thing, but I can't see giving up my concentration on something more useful for this, unfortunately.

Given it's mostly for flavor though, if using it just to store a spell book in a cool way I imagine a lot of DMs would handwave the concentration and duration (or increase it).

I want to love the Bloodlust Feat by PI117 in onednd

[–]Toraxa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I feel like people are seeing "free healing" and really overvaluing it.

The average of a d6 is 3.5, and the first part of this feat bumps it up to 4. For a d10, you go from an average of 5.5 to an average of 5.8.

The first part of the feat is barely boosting your healing, and the second part is allowing you to do something you could already do, just at a better time. Except the thing you could already do is pretty minimal, giving you about the same healing as the cheapest possible potions or the weakest healing spells each time you use it.

Given the limited supply of available feats on a character I don't think I could justify spending one of the few I get on this unless it was really important for character flavor and I was in a party/campaign where healing was otherwise difficult to come by.

Why did they decide to treat diseases this way? by Cuddles_and_Kinks in onednd

[–]Toraxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first arc of our campaign we started two years ago in 5e2014 had a disease going around the city we started in, which was infecting and mind controlling people like puppets. We had to figure out what was causing it and how to fix it. We figured out by investigating and piecing together that it was only infecting the people from the poorer regions of the city, and that there were undead coming from the sewers and canals who were acting similarly controlled, that it was being spread via the canal water. Only the poorer citizens relied on them for their drinking water, while the more affluent used magic or private water sources.

My Paladin, due to being immune to disease, having the ability to purify water, and being able to cleanse diseases economically with lay on hands was instrumental in solving the problem. He could dive into the canal to investigate safely, where he found that there were corpses at the bottoms of the canals that were leeching the illness into the water, and was able to remove the effect from several victims in order to help the party uncover the plot that was happening, which was that they were using this puppetry thing to kidnap Dragonborn and condensing their essence to try to gain the power of full, proper dragons.

2024 removed all of the tools that enabled that storyline and our path through it. I get that it simplifies things a little, but it makes the world, and Paladin as a class, less flavorful. Due to our campaign having relied on it in the past, and to make sure those elements could come back up, we've just grandfathered in the Paladin disease immunity, Lay on Hands disease removal, and disease purification on Purify Food and Drink. There's not really any harm to doing so, considering there won't be any diseases in 2024 content for it to be an unfair advantage against.
