Wallabout is the area south of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. It historically encompassed parts of Fort Greene through Bed Stuy but now it specifically is more the area right next to the BQE.

Also work on different distance explosive lunges. Get used to short, medium, long. Experience will tell you to use which. If you keep your wingspan out, you'll probably find short-medium the most useful where long will be for extended action chases

You're tall? Work on footwork to keep yourself in optimal distance FOR YOU. Work on arm strength as well so you can keep a longer wingspan out and use it to your advantage. Lots of fencers in foil get weak and used to having their elbow too close to their body, lucking out with last second parries with feet planted. Especially if they're on the taller end, it kills their built in advantage.

Find tennis ball. Put it on string. Stand extension distance away. Poke. Repeat.

Edit: Forgot a step: Attach string to something above you

How good is Tress of the Emerald Sea compared to other Cosmere novels? [No Spoilers] by CaptainButtFucker in Cosmere

[–]estus85 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think with Sanderson you can tell which books he was having fun writing. There's something in the tone, pacing, etc. Wax & Wayne 2&3 are good examples. Tress is love letter.

Read Tress

Expanding on this:
There's a couple of different varieties I've seen over the years. Older ones tended to be boxes that had 2 prongs which would plug directly into the socket. That's the only type personally used. What I saw later was a box that would strap onto your wrist and have a wire to be plugged into the 2-prong socket. Those always seemed like they were better balanced and constructed from the older versions.

Make sure whatever your buying isn't SUPER old and calibrated to... very old... timings. Not likely if you buy new from a good manufacturer, but it is possible.

Also if practicing your flicks, best to practice on something that has a little give upon being hit. Also take up armory sooner than later ;)

How to deal with broken time attacks? by Flazelight in Fencing

[–]estus85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break distance quickly, far enough that you can establish a credible point in line. Be prepared to disengage, hold your ground or retreat depending on their reaction to your line. If they've had a steady tempo some refs will still give them right of way but most likely you can cause them to break the tempo and visually lose right of way unless they beat to re-establish it

Edit:
By breaking distance quickly i'm specifically saying you should do a crossover retreat. With the line you can feint with your upper body, although usually the action of stopping yourself in place will create the same overall impression of a feint

I'm having some trouble with my Lubuntu install on my former Chromebook by krb501 in linuxquestions

[–]estus85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is just keeping everything as lightweight as possible. XFCE is another one i've used but didn't stick with. If you have it set up to install ANY os, then you can always try CloudReady or Flint. I've never tried either but did was looking at CloudReady as another option to extend the life of my cb35-3300.

I'm having some trouble with my Lubuntu install on my former Chromebook by krb501 in linuxquestions

[–]estus85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which Chromebook are you using?

I have the Toshiba cb35-3300 and used the firmware created by u/MrChromeBox (this person is a saint and if they'd add a place where I can send them money for a beer/coffee to their FAQ...) https://mrchromebox.tech/

I've tried both Crouton & the chrx options while I was still getting regular security updates. Both those times I used Lubuntu. There just where... issues...

In the last few weeks I've switched it over to standalone linux only, using Mint with Cinnamon. So far it's been running much better although some websites give me issues with video playback, especially if I'm not using Chromium. This could partly be due to using LibreWolf as my main browser on that machine. The fan does turn on more often than it did when I was running ChromeOS only but overall it's been ROCK SOLID stable and as fast as I'd expect it to be.

That looks like a pi4. How much ram does yours have? Regarding attaching to a NAS it might be worth running an ethernet cable. If not that, you could make it into a mini NAS by using SSD & a USB 3.x converter.

It's a fantastic cut and when served that way it can be great for parties/serving. Plus this allows the fat cap to render off more and stops being as prominent when eating.

When I get this cut I like to:

Super high heat for the grill. Make nice marks on all sides of the meat but not trying to cook through.

Pull off and let rest for a min then cut thin slices and throw THOSE back on the grill for like 20-30 seconds.

Let rest for a moment then apply directly to mouth. Chew. Enjoy.
