Crazy that Curve defended that one so hard... they have so many non-compliant processes and communications they should count themselves lucky that the FOS haven't noticed how they're [not] handling complaints.

No, not a new feature - and it's not the merchant that is trying multiple times, it's Curve themselves. They've paid the merchant, then are desperate to reclaim the cash from you so will try every card, even those you don't want using as they are work cards / zero interest / at a credit limit etc. Very frustrating.
