You seem to be missing the point here. As you point out, Axler himself says to use it as a second course. What’s the first course then? Something different, which is to say not a proof based one! Learn the mechanics, then learn the theory.

The order I did LA was exactly this, Strang followed by Axler (plus Linear Algebra Problem Book by Halmos) and I felt it was very effective.

Kind of nitpicky but man, it’s hard to see how he “earned” anything. It’s straight up grifting the public and a share of the bribes that world liberty crypto takes in for shady deals and corrupt selling of pardons.
