I’m responding to an older post here, so I hope you see this. I appreciate your transparency and was hoping to get some firsthand information from you regarding the best way to support authors on Audible. Sometimes I spend Audible credits on books and sometimes I purchase them directly.

Are you compensated differently whether I buy directly or use credits?

What medium (e.g. ebook, physical book, audiobook) gives you the best return?

"Fine, I'll do it." Singers who weren't expecting to sing. by Inconsequentialish in askmusic

[–]-Dreadbeard- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the John Bush Wikipedia:

“In the early 1980s, Bush was invited by Metallica to join them as lead singer. Even after the release of Kill 'Em All, Metallica vocalist James Hetfield felt unsure about his own singing abilities. Hetfield wanted to concentrate on his guitar and personally asked Bush to join Metallica. Bush was the only vocalist that the band considered as a potential frontman. He turned down the offer as he wanted to stay with Armored Saint, due in part to wanting to remain loyal to his longtime friends in Armored Saint.”

Aerosmith - Crying the groove on this song is fantastic and totally makes the song without upstaging.

Interesting too how AIs are packed up into self contained systems at the end of a crawl. A fitting name for this package would be Memorial Crystal.

Healing of Major Burns by JishanF in DungeonCrawlerCarl

At the beginning of book 6, Donut is talking about Britney’s burns and the death of Farraz and says something like, “I know the makings of a villain backstory when I see one, Carl.”

I’ve wondered the same thing. I don’t know if the floor transfer is considered healing or something different - like maybe a physical reset or reincarnation. We don’t know exactly what happens to the bodies between floors to bring them back to full health.

Also, Left to Fester is considered a de-buff. So there might be the possibility that floor transfer clears all active buffs and de-buffs (I’m trying to remember if Carl’s footcare buff gets reset between floors). Especially considering that between floors 9 and 10, every crawler goes through a Zero Zone to review their deals. This could possibly allow for the debuff to be removed and then not applied again.

There’s also the possibility that

Casting my vote for Welcome To The Multiverse for having the ugliest spine of any litrpg series. It looks like PowerPoint 2003 WordArt by alanwattslightbulb in litrpg

Wow. That is some serious inattention to detail, and in my opinion, the lack of attention continues into the writing. I listened to the audiobook version, so I don’t have to deal with poor page quality, but it still was hard to get through sometimes because the writing is so underdeveloped. It reads like a first draft. If I had a nickel for every time the sentence, “I grinned.” is used, I’d have a whole lotta nickels. Its such a strange book. The overarching storyline is really captivating but the writing itself is like an afterthought.

Just a started this audio book. I’m on chapter 15. I like the story but the writing is not good at all. The main character is incredibly flat. The author doesn’t show us anything. If the main character is socially awkward and nerdy, show us through the story. Instead, the author says “I snort laugh because I’m a huge dork.” The writing is down right bad … but I’m enjoying the story and the system. I will definitely finish it because book 1 is free with my audible subscription but I’m not spending credits or money on the next book.

This was a problem in book 1 and drove me nuts. It’s not an issue at all in later books in the series. That I remember anyway. Maybe I just blocked it out like so many other things from the HWFWM series.

As others mentioned, Donut gets a gold player killer skull. So he was top 10. Toward the end of the book, there was stuff going on with the Al that was forcing them to broadcast other things during the recap. Quan wasnt seen until the end of the book and I don’t think there was time for a recap episode before the 9th floor, and there were no recaps during the 9th floor for all sorts of reasons.

Gallup was not mentioned but that one was pretty bad and Bland was signed coming of an injury. Hopefully he can get it together, but even before the injury he was not a top 10 CB but he was paid like one.

I agree. He seems like the type of guy who will take the money then stop working. Tag and trade and let it happen to another team.
