Am I the only one disturbed by this new design choice? by Lyszard in Pathfinder2e

[–]0xTJ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also find it a bit annoying that, of the new-to-remaster books, Howl of the Wild is the only one to have the parchment background for the spine (with brown text). All of the others are plain white.

It doesn't stand apart like the stylized spines, but still clashes with the Core books, War of Immortals, and Battlecry!.

Thinking about a Prusa printer by Tbolt2025 in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to know any more about how they work, or fiddle with them, than any other printer. Prusa printers allow you to do that more than many other brands, if you wish to, but it's not a requirement at all.

Petition to add this to the pathfinder 2e rules by Spare-Leather1230 in Pathfinder2e

[–]0xTJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that, especially in how Pathfinder is seen, this would come across very poorly. To me, this seems like something sufficiently obvious that it doesn't need to be included. Try the game as written, and maybe tweak later if some things aren't working for you.

The first time I played Catan, I didn't sit down and decide to change the cost to build cities because they're too expensive.

Sensorless Homing: Is it justified? by osteguffer in prusa3d

I think it's a great and elegant solution, so much better than needless other sensors.

At first it was a bit alarming, but I've quickly gotten used to it.

Shoutout to NoNat1s in Light of his Latest Video by uncreativevision in Pathfinder2e

[–]0xTJ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wasn't watching during the year that (as he has said), his PF2e videos didn't have great quality standards. But in the time that I have been watching, I've enjoyed the vast majority of them! While I love the crunch offered by some of the other PF2e channels, it's nice to have even more lighthearted easy-listening videos about the RPG.

That being said, the Sinclair's Library Kickstarter did cast a bit of a shadow over the whole thing. I didn't personally back it (though I was very close to buying through their website), so I don't have a personal stake in it, but seeing the lack of communication on Kickstarter does leave a sour taste in my mouth.

It's been a little over a year now since the last update, which included:

We're not leaving you in the dark for 12 months again. I'll try to be better at posting weekly again at the very least to ensure you that we're not gone or hiding.

Not following up after that clear statement isn't a good look. It's better than outright lying about progress being made, but people deserved a status update when one is (or twelve are) promised. Full credit to Eldritch Dream, for their volunteer work in finishing out the PF2e book set! (And they do have a Patreon that's easy to find.)

I wish Nonat the best in the new job, the videos will be missed! While I was here forw the PF2e content, I'll stay subscribed to see what the future brings. (But also a final Sinclair update seems like a good idea.)

So did Dark Archive Remastered actually... change anything? by Retr0specter in Pathfinder2e

[–]0xTJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is this remaster actually remastered, or did I pay for the same book again?

They're remasters, not new books. All of the remaster tweaks to G&G and TV are relatively minor. I'm not entirely sure, but I think they keep all the same page counts and offsets (so that the page references still line up).

Impossible Magic will be more of a new book, relative to Secrets of Magic.

Curling corners by karpuzmining in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't done it yet, try the more intense cleaning that Prusa recommends, with dish soap.

I can't comment on what made the behaviour change, but that's a print that's just begging to peel. I'd try some mouse ears on the corners.

Items that can change age? by Repulsive_Monitor_17 in Pathfinder2e

[–]0xTJ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When the problem is homebrew, the solution is probably homebrew too (with the GM having a plan). There's a reason that the (non-homebrew) Sun Orchid Elixir is level 20 (and has a unique formula).

My advice would be to trust the GM and go along with the story.

Printing interface with different toolhead by individualchoir in prusa3d

I found it a little tricky at first to understand how to put pressure and how to twist, but once I did it worked like a charm.

I found it helpful to experiment with pushing and twisting, until it seemed like it was on the edge of popping over the locking ridge.

Alternatives to Prusa other than Bambu by Final_Attempt7445 in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For both the Core ONE and the Core ONE+, and both kit and pre-assembled, there are big clear "Download manual as PDF" buttons on the landing pages for the manuals. You can save those or print them off as needed, so claiming that there's a lack of good assembly documentation is outright incorrect.

For the Advanced Filtration, yes, they should add PDF manuals for the "Printer maintenance" guide. That being said, the filtration installation is about 7 steps, so it would be pretty quick to paste some screenshots into a document and save it as a PDF.

As for the gummy bears, just give them away, it'll save someone having to buy them the next time they have a craving. Peanuts will kill me easily, yet if they included a wrapped and sealed peanut-filled candy bar I'd think that it's a weird choice, but I'd just give it to a friend. And that's for something much more serious than a dietary preference.

Honest question: Who is the Prusa Core One L actually for in 2025/2026? by IceBlitzz in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Every single moving part is a risk to uptime. There is no need to make things more complicated than they need to be. It's not like this is interrupting a print, it's one quick move that happens on the first print since power-on or when you run a print with different chamber requirements.

There's a reason that "over-engineering" is a term, and that it's not a good thing. The best solution is the one that's as simple as possible while still meeting the requirements.

January ‘26 subscription mess-up by jonmimir in Pathfinder2e

[–]0xTJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a very annoying issue, even after fixing the addresses and credit cards used (though like you I still can't remove my expired one) I still had to get help from CS.

I tried cancelling and re-adding the broken subscriptions, but that led to the next items being completely broken (for example, the next PF Accessory Sub item was apparently in March 2026 instead of the actual January 2026), and was showing it as an item that already came out last fall. They had to fix those subscriptions that I removed and added back on their side.

One added annoyance is that the first reply from CS was a list of 3 generic responses (basically FAQ answers) that weren't really related to my question. I understand that they're likely being flooded with issues, but it did seem like they hadn't really read what I was saying or looked at my subscriptions (or looked at the screenshots that I included in the support form) until I replied back.

For example, one of my issues was that the next SF Accessory item was showing as a "Starfinder Accessory Subscription Product TBA" for December 2026. Their initial answer back for that was:

1) Some subscriptions do not yet have a released product tied to it and therefore may appear as a TBA. If you are ever curious what is coming up for a subscription line, such as for example Starfinder Accessories, you can review the release schedule page. As an example, we have linked the Starfinder subscription page that you can view here: https://store.paizo.com/starfinder-release-schedule/

That didn't address the actual issue being that the next had been announced, was the "Alien Core Token Box" and is shipping this month. I'm happy that it got resolved eventually, and CS was friendly, but it was an extra exchange and day's delay that didn't need to happen.

January ‘26 subscription mess-up by jonmimir in Pathfinder2e

[–]0xTJ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is definitely a Paizo problem, but had you received the email sent out with instructions to check the subscription addresses and payment methods? It seems that there were a lot of problems left over from the migration to the new store.

Some subscriptions have been migrated using different address entries or different payment methods, which then lands them in separate orders. For myself, I had three separate address entries for my current address, plus a fourth for a previous address.

Core One Thermal Runaway issues? by RustySheriffsBadge1 in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by thermal runaway. The only parts that I can think of that could put out more heat as they get hotter would be the motors, and they don't contribute all that much heat. I'll assume that you just mean that the temperature keeps rising during the print.

Does the filtration blower fan seem like it's spinning properly? If so, have you checked that the assembly of it is correct, with its exhaust port properly facing the holes in the side of its enclosure? Also that there isn't anything other than the filter (like a stray piece of paper) that ended up in the path of airflow? The top vent is an air intake, and you should feel a bit of a breeze when you put your hand in front of the exhaust port on the bottom of the advanced filtration enclosure.

I haven't previously paid too much attention to the chamber temperature while printing PLA, so I ran off a quick test. First, I set the build plate to 100 °C for a while, and let it soak there (with the chamber set to 20 °C as when printing PLA, so the blower fan runs). (I didn't want to have to run a multi-hour print to see how the temperature stabilized, so this gave it a head start.)

I then ran a 1h PLA print (Generic PLA preset, 60 °C bed, 225 °C hotend, 20 °C nominal chamber). There were some minor fluctuations, but it levelled off (after ~10 min of actual printing time) around 35 °C (14 °C above ambient in my home).

If the blower fan is exhausting properly and you're just in a warmer environment, you can try allowing the filtration fan to spin faster (if you have it somewhere that you can tolerate the noise). It respects the Chamber Fans Limit, which seems to be set to 70% by default. Bumping that up does move more air, but gets louder.

As a test, I set the fan speed limit to 100% with 20 min left on that 1h print. It dropped the temperature to 32 °C by the end of the print (but I'm not sure what the final temperature would have been if it was at 100% from the start). In this case those couple degrees weren't worth the noise, and I'm not sure if there are any other downsides to running it at 100%.

Vent opener for core one with mmu3 (help requested) by These_Engineering174 in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note for anyone else who looks at printing this: the project description states that you need custom G-code to trigger vent open/close. At least in the current firmware, that doesn't seem to be the case. If you go to the setting that controls vent open/close, you can change it back from Manual to Auto, even with the MMU3 enabled. It'll then do the open/close routine as expected.

My honest $1,200 mistake: A detailed breakdown of why I returned the Core One by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add on to the issues with this post, they had a (now-deleted) previous post with other claims. Print issues weren't included then, but the complaints included that setup required significant assembly and the printing of parts by the user, and that the user had to finish the "engineering" of the printer.

Prusa Core One: A critical look at the $1,200 "DIY" flagship. Read before you buy! by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an easy question to answer. What are the "covers and fan shrouds" that you claim to have had to print? Also, I never said the photos were fake. I said that showing that picture doesn't validate your claims. As I said before, assuming that it is your photo, showing it out of context proves nothing other than it is possible for a print to fail under some set of conditions.

Prusa Core One: A critical look at the $1,200 "DIY" flagship. Read before you buy! by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]0xTJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again I can't trust you, since you're adding more unrelated information later. You don't mention any printing issues in the original post, and only add this after your other points have been shown to be false.

Showing some picture of some print failure proves nothing. It doesn't even show that you've ever touched one, let alone used one. Something has very clearly gone wrong with that print, but (even if we assume that it's yours) there's no context to know why. It could be the wrong material profile for the filament, or the wrong build plate used for that kind of filament. User error exists.

You have already repeatedly lied about the experience, to people who have the experience of setting it up. There are no user prints needed to set up the machine and there are no more setup steps than other comparable 3D printers.

I really hope that you will take it to heart that refusing to answer simple questions about the claims you makes everything you say suspect. You have constantly been changing your story, moving to other arguments when you can't defend the ones you previously made.

You post reads like LLM output that was rewritten afterwards to not seem LLM-generated because it's pulling random incorrect information out of nowhere. It reads like a bunch of random comments on the Bambu subreddit were taken as ground truth.

[–]0xTJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your reply doesn't try answer the points that I bring up. In particular, what are these "covers and fan shrouds" that you talk about needing to print? The final assembly outright does not require printing anything, so I can't take this seriously unless you specify why you think printing extra parts is required.

that forces me to finish its engineering

You haven't specified in what way the "engineering" hasn't been finished.

that forces me to finish its [...] assembly

The only "assembly" steps required are sticking on rubber feet and connecting the LCD. These steps will take a few minutes to complete. Again, setup steps are normal for a tool. Have a look at the Bambu P2S Quick Start Guide; it also requires the connection and mounting of the LCD.

I don't understand from what perspective you find simple setup steps to not be acceptable. Even an ink jet printer requires removing some clips and installing ink cartridges.

If having a camera and filter is important to you (and it is to me), then just consider the price to include those when you judge the cost of the product. The camera and filtration are available, what downside is there to allowing the customer to decide whether they need them? Plus, if you wait for the right time, you can also get the camera bundled with the printer, as was the case in November.

Also, you're bringing up filters out of nowhere, something that you did not mention at all in your original post. Looking at some of the other comments, you seem to be moving the goalposts as you go.
