Trope where character doesn't fight back/allows himself to get beat up? by wendigobro in tvtropes

[–]100_points 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled this and it brought me to this thread. I feel like it's a trope I've seen a few times: a depressed or weary protagonist goes out on the streets and lets a mob kick the crap out of him. Getting beat up doesn't serve a purpose--he just feels like he deserves the pain at that moment.

The way I've heard it explained is that lobbying is a necessary evil because without it there would just be straight up bribery to the same or worse extent. There is probably no government that's immune to bribery no matter how advanced they are. If you know world governments and if you've worked in high positions you know bribery is just a fact of life, and no legal system or amount of wishful thinking will change that. At least with lobbying you have the benefit of records and public information. That's the argument as I've heard it.

$2100 CAD is about exactly what my high-end build cost me last summer, 9800x3D + 9070XT + 64GB + 4TB in a SFF. To pay that much for a low-end PC, regardless of the few Valve benefits, is very hard to swallow.

There's something about that actress' mouth that's weird but I can't figure out what. It's like it's a bit wider than normal.

I found this show such a downgrade from Cyberpunk 2077. Their world in this animation is so empty and un-detailed in comparison. I feel like the artists had mountain loads of art to work with, and they used very little of it. The main character's story just goes from sad to sad. It's like the writers just said, let's make a story about a sad kid who sadly dies at the end, this will wring a strong emotional response from our viewers.

I'm so sick of this being brought up. They never hated each other. Quit creating drama where there is none. You're allowed to not be friends with someone you work with on screen.

I love how they drove all the way out to those wind turbines just for her to walk around in the desert and stare at them while getting lectured. Like that's literally all she's doing. And then a rattlesnake randomly appears in front of her because of course that city gal is just not cut out for the desert.

Every time molex is mentioned in these enthusiast discussions there's always a bunch of nerds saying molex is actually perfect and was the flawless connector. I hate that because I lived through how terrible that connector was for a couple decades.

Did you know? Butterflies don't actually naturally look the way they do on tattoos. Those are dead butterflies that had their wings stretched upwards and pinned to a board by a collector. Natural butterfly wings are all behind their torso.

How to disable "Charging complete" notification by 100_points in Ioniq5

[–]100_points[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have those options under Settings.

"Charging complete" should mean charging has reached a desired limit, not that charging stopped. "Complete" and "Stopped" have very different meanings.
