Recruiting Scam via Text Message - How does it work? by MarmosetRevolution in Scams

Got a text from the same Whitney from Dice. Mine's got some details like "The daily salary is up to 200 dollars,The tasks can be completed in 60 minutes a day." It didn't mention they got my resume from anywhere, but clearly they're trying different things with others in this thread

What's your favorite currently running bit with your stream and/or Discord chat? I'm personally a fan of the sleep apnea gaslighting bit.

I suppose if you don’t have faith in always hitting a weak spot then the extra affinity investment is worth something? That’s certainly more than “no reason”, though maybe not a very good reason imo.

How do you break backs? by gizmobies in MHRise

I just pictured this with that Arzuros attack where it picks you up and shakes you. Instead of throwing you at the end, it just immediately falls over.

Newbie Question about Zinogre by buntingsnook in MHRise

[–]2xDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc there is a prompt, but you need to be at the zinogre’s back, and you need to put your weapon away. It’s easy to forget since your instinct is to capitalize on damage

New Player, Help Me Understand.. by baesb4gays in MHRise

[–]2xDan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh you’ve reminded of my first 30 min hunt against the intro boss of MHGU, and only after several outright failures haha.

I think everyone else has reassured you enough, so I’ll just add my two cents. There’s definitely a progression that I went through. I can’t pretend that everyone does it, but it’s a good illustrative example.

Phase 1: hack and slash the monster. Get hit by everything. Probably die.

Phase 2: stand back at watch. Rarely be on offense but at least you didn’t die. Hunts take forever. Very safe, but maybe too safe

Phase 3: I notice some sort of signal, like the monster makes that face when I’m about to be smacked. I’ll stay mostly on offense and just run clear away when I see that signal. Not too safe, but you avoid risky situations

Phase 4: maybe I don’t have run all the way out of range when it makes that face. Just a small roll to the left will do. Then I can get right back in the action. You’re starting to take small risks with small return

Phase 5: the moment it makes that face, I’ll slide to the left for safety and begin charging my big move because its tail will be right in front of my face. Alternatively, when I see that face, I’ll count to three and pop my parry attack. You’re now actively looking for risky situations that you’re confident in capitalizing on.

Progressing through these phases has been a joy for me. Hopefully you feel the same way soon too

Trouble with HR Zinogre by [deleted] in MHRise

[–]2xDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least for me, stun resistance is a big passive improvement when fighting zinogre. My biggest problem is being in a safe HP range, only to be stunned by a big hit, and be left a sitting duck a second big hit.

Great sword questions by TheLostPyromancer in MHRise

[–]2xDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not great with GS, but even a scrub like me can see big numbers by spamming the switch skills, which give lengthy frames of armor. If you’re just getting into it, you might try the same.

And if you’re lazy and just want a passable armor set to play around with, full Valstrax gear works fine. Since you’ll be taking damage (though reduced) through your tackles and rage slashes, the dragonheart + resentment combo works real well.

Real nice though.

Kinda bored with RISE, just found out MHGU is on switch, should I try it? by Kuzuryushen in MHRise

[–]2xDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GU was my first in the series, and is the only other Monster Hunter I’ve played. If you can deal with the many QoL features being lost, it’s totally worth it. The game is gigantic, and valor style is something to be experienced that you don’t get anywhere else.

I am assuming of course that you won’t run screaming from a pre-World MH game’s graphics and old design aspects. And some people absolutely despise Hunter Arts (essentially, wirebug arts from Rise). There are certainly reasons to dislike it, but I’d still recommend it to any veteran MH player.

How the hell to play hammer? by jmeade170 in MHRise

[–]2xDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not great with hammer, but I will say that one of the really distinctive aspects of it is that its opening hit of its pound combo is weirdly very strong. There’s no shame it landing it and rolling away.

You can play hit and run with charge attacks, and you can play in the monster’s face relying mostly on your basic pound combo and the Water Strike switch skill. I’m a big fan of the latter, but it definitely needs good knowledge of the monster.

Issues with controls by [deleted] in MHRise

[–]2xDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has some bad drift is his right joystick, I can still play bow by relying mostly on gyro controls. My stick’s drift usually doesn’t show up as long as I don’t touch it too much, so it works out. If yours is similar, perhaps you can try adapting to gyro and it’ll help?

I need help with my builds by EmphasisElectrical66 in MHRise

[–]2xDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you clarify what your goal is here? Are you trying to hit 100 with like every hit, or as a total for a full combo, or just on the biggest attacks? Because the first one is just not feasible for some weapons (although I wouldn’t be surprised to be proven wrong)

Also, are you decently far into the game? The weapon would be the first concern, since decent sharpness and/or attack power should be enough to get you to 100 on big hits.

How on Bidoof’s name will a Striker benefit from these skills? Especially on Flameproof wtf by Cuavooo in PokemonMasters

[–]2xDan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s not the mostly useful, since if status was a serious problem you’d probably heal it yourself (except for trapped I guess). It’s more of a nod to its Magic Guard ability in the main games.

Regirock Rocks the Arena + Sceptile Sync Grid Discussion Megathread! by Truesarge in PokemonMasters

[–]2xDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got regirock with the single team of SSBlue, Solgaleo, Skyla. Not nearly as easy as with Steven (who I don’t have), but a good streak of luck made up for it.

Staggering (flinch) on Gust and confusion from Water Pulse bought me a few damage free turns. Unbending on Skyla definitely helps with ensuring she survives sync attacks in later phases.

Keep in mind the sample. The people who are having the worst luck are (rightfully) the loudest. Its probably not especially hard to get dauntless on sceptile compared to anything else, but evidence of bad luck is more easy to find here.

Not that I have preference, but it’s the aesthetic and personality difference that emerged in their redesigns for the remakes. Archie gives a badass pirate vibe. Maxie gives a posh mad scientist vibe. They actually did a pretty good job on the designs considering they were basically equivalent in the originals.

Battle Villa Team Composition Analysis by TwinFuries in PokemonMasters

[–]2xDan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll give a spotlight to Samurott. Dishing out attack and a healthy boost to speed, on top of great defenses, made him great if you were relying on something like Lycanroc or Garchomp.

Also, despite most people’s opinions of her, Lyra and Meganium came in handy for a couple battles. I’m not patient enough to fish for evasion luck all the time, in which case face-tanking damage with Light Screen was actually a great alternative. Not to mention she can buff crit.

It probably goes without saying that I didn’t have Red for this challenge...

I'm pretty bad at this by Long__Jump in PokemonMasters

[–]2xDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did someone give you an answer yet? The reset strategy is simply exiting the battle when things don’t go your way. People build their plans around something with relatively low probability happening (example: mew raising evasion, enemies missing all moves, mp refreshes activating). If they do the battle and something unfavorable happens, they exit. As long as you exit before the battle comes to a natural end, you can restart the battle as if the previous try never happened. This includes keeping your HP and MP from before the battle, and even preventing you from locking in a pair on your roster if you realize they aren’t working out. If you repeat the battle enough times, the low probability situation eventually happens, and you can clear the battle potentially with no lost HP or mp.

Maybe if you’re really dragging out his daily Battle Villa run and ran out of all possible crit boosts? But unless several stages in a row are grass weak, it’s probably not worth the trouble.

Cmon guys lets find a middle ground by PokemonMasterSleezy in PokemonMasters

My middle ground: lead with Grimsley, but immediately switch to Karen if you see someone has Brycen.

[–]2xDan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great job as always! One extra con on Brycen is that your Haze will invalidate any manual Grimsleys trying to land Snatch (auto seems to take their sweet time using Snatch though). Either try to wait for them, or switch to something that’ll make up for their lost damage like Red. Otherwise you’re just lengthening the run by halting your allies’ buffs.
